What is Hokukanon Mountain?
Hokukanon Mountain is one of the float processions featured during the Gion Matsuri's After-Festival, known as a
hikiyama. Also recognized as the “Uebari Kannon Mountain,” it houses deities believed to heal ailments, such as the willow Kannon and the swift-footed deity, Idaten. The float is also known for its splendid ornaments—rich carpets, intricate embroidery, and exquisite carvings, making it a vibrant symbol of the festival.
