TM Forum Introduces Innovative Solution Package for Reliable Autonomous Networks

TM Forum’s New Solution Package for Autonomous Networks

Recently at the Innovate Asia Autonomous Networks (AN) Masterclass, TM Forum unveiled its Core Network Fault Management AN Solution Package, developed with insights from Huawei's core network solutions expert, Michael Wang. This innovative solution package is designed to lay the groundwork for a new paradigm in autonomous networks, emphasizing high reliability and stability for core network management.

Seven Dimensions of Network Stability

The solution centers on seven critical dimensions essential for ensuring core network stability:
1. High-Stable Deployment Architecture
2. Disaster Recovery at the Control Level
3. User-Level Disaster Recovery
4. Infrastructure-Level Disaster Recovery
5. Anti-Signaling Capability
6. Risk Prediction
7. Service Degradation Recovery

Drawing from the management data analytics function defined in the 3GPP TS 28.104, this package offers a comprehensive resilience network framework. Utilizing a digital twin technology, the solution enables end-to-end management from risk prediction to automatic optimization, significantly enhancing the network's capability to withstand extreme scenarios, such as signaling storms.

Innovative Risk Evaluation Techniques

A key feature of the solution package is its novel approach to assessing the risk of signaling storms. The modeling of a digital twin constructs a virtual network environment, which allows for predictive risk analysis and the implementation of proactive measures. Before a signaling storm occurs, the system aggregates traffic statistics, node connection data, and device timing configurations. It then utilizes simulation machines to create impact models that enable accurate assessments of network capacity, ultimately providing operators with optimization recommendations to preemptively alleviate potential disruptions.

Streamlined Adoption Through Standardization

Adhering strictly to TM Forum's IG1500 standards, the AN Solution Package integrates seamlessly into existing systems through standardized APIs. In his address, Michael Wang emphasized that this solution not only provides a standardized technical implementation template but has its feasibility demonstrated in scenarios aimed at ensuring core network stability, supported by the Catalyst project. Wang showcased the optimization practices undertaken by network operators for infrastructure recovery during disasters. Key processes include accurately identifying VIP users, promptly determining recoverable paths, and swiftly creating recovery solutions.

The objective is ambitious: to reduce the network recovery time for VIP users from 30 minutes to merely 1 minute, while maintaining a recovery time of 30 minutes for regular users. By applying differentiated service assurance policies, this solution enhances the networking experience for high-value users and effectively mitigates financial losses caused by VIP user churn.

A Step Forward in Core Network Stability

With this introduction of the AN Solution Package, TM Forum has officially integrated core network stability into its standard scenarios. Huawei's reproducible and scalable paradigm for constructing high-reliability networks equips network operators with a powerful tool for improving resilience while supporting monetization of network evaluations.
