ClearSky Health Implements Transformative Recapitalization and Leadership Shift to Propel Future Growth

ClearSky Health, recognized as a leading provider of rehabilitative healthcare across the United States, has recently introduced a strategic recapitalization initiative designed to bolster its expansion efforts. This significant move comes together with a leadership transition, marking a pivotal moment for the organization as it aims to enhance patient care capabilities and invest in the training of its workforce.

A New Era at ClearSky Health

On May 5, 2026, ClearSky Health announced that the recapitalization will provide substantial financial resources, allowing the company to expand its foothold in high-demand rehabilitation sectors. This development is anticipated to foster a culture of improved patient outcomes, anchored by advancements in technology and a commitment to staff development.

In light of this recapitalization, there has been a noteworthy leadership transition within the organization. The outgoing CEO, Darby Brockette, along with CFO Kristi Duncan, will step into the Board of Directors to ensure continuity in the company's strategic vision. The company has appointed Michael Warrington, previously the President of ClearSky Health, as the new CEO, while Bonnie Cushman, Senior Vice President of Corporate Hospital Finance, will assume the role of CFO starting May 1, 2026.

Leadership Expertise Driving Change

Both Warrington and Cushman come with extensive backgrounds in healthcare management. Warrington, with over 25 years of industry experience, has led operational improvements for major healthcare providers across key markets including California, Texas, and Florida. He has a proven track record in integrating hospitals and developing partnerships with critical acute care systems. Prior to joining ClearSky Health, Warrington held the position of President at Kindred Healthcare, bringing valuable insights into the dynamics of healthcare management.

Cushman, on the other hand, boasts more than 20 years of experience in financial and operational roles within the healthcare landscape, specifically focusing on post-acute care and physician practices. Her previous leadership roles as CEO and CFO at Vibra Healthcare and Ernest Health hospitals solidify her readiness to navigate the financial intricacies of ClearSky Health and enhance its operational effectiveness.

Warrington expressed his enthusiasm about taking the helm during this crucial phase for the company, stating, "I'm honored to lead ClearSky Health at such a pivotal time. We will build on the strong foundation established by Darby and Kristi, who leave behind a legacy of high-quality patient outcomes, and accelerate our growth strategy to deliver superior rehabilitative care to more communities across the country."

Focus on Expansion and Patient Care

This reorganization and financial recapitalization not only reflects a robust confidence in ClearSky Health's business model but also showcases the commitment of its executive team to prioritize patient care. As the healthcare sector continues to evolve, ClearSky Health is eager to align its strategy with community needs, particularly in underserved areas where rehabilitation services can greatly impact patient recovery.

With operations currently spanning 15 medical rehabilitation hospitals in states such as Arizona, Florida, Kansas, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, and Wisconsin, the company has plans for further expansion, including two additional facilities in Wisconsin.

Brockette, reflecting on the changes, remarked, "This is an exciting new chapter for ClearSky Health. The recapitalization validates the hard work and dedication of our team. I look forward to supporting our new leadership from the Board, as we grow and serve more patients in need of specialized rehabilitation services."

As ClearSky Health transitions into this new phase, the focus remains clear: enhanced patient outcomes through strategic growth, investment in technology, and development of a dedicated workforce that champions quality care.

Through these efforts, ClearSky Health aspires to enhance its reputation as a top-tier rehabilitative healthcare provider while continuing its mission to support the diverse needs of patients across the nation.
