AVAIO Digital Launches Cutting-Edge Data Center in Madrid's Algete Hub

AVAIO Digital's New Era: The Algete Data Hub

In a significant advancement for the technology sector in Spain, AVAIO Digital has recently announced the establishment of its first data center in the country. This facility, strategically located in Algete, Madrid, is a testament to the burgeoning digital ecosystem in Europe and comes with substantial investment aimed at revitalizing the region's workforce and technological infrastructure.

A Game-Changer for Madrid's Tech Landscape

On August 14, 2025, AVAIO Digital unveiled plans for a new 64 megawatt (MW) datacenter campus, also known as the AVAIO Digital Scorpio project. With a funding backdrop of 650 million euros, this development is set to play a vital role in enhancing Madrid's position as a leading hub for cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Mark McComiskey, the CEO of AVAIO Digital, highlighted, "Madrid is a leading European center for cloud computing and AI development, and we are excited to partner with the city of Algete for this significant investment that will enhance the region’s digital and energy infrastructure."

Job Creation and Economic Growth

The Algete Data Hub is expected to generate approximately 500 jobs during its construction phase, as well as an additional 50 permanent positions once the center becomes operational. This initiative aligns with the region's broader objectives of workforce development and economic revitalization, capitalizing on Madrid's extensive pool of qualified professionals.

A Sustainable Approach to Data Management

One of the most striking features of the Algete project is its commitment to sustainability. The center has secured a clean power supply from Iberdrola, Spain’s premier energy provider. Initially set to receive 8 MW, this will be enhanced by an additional 56.3 MW, emphasizing a commitment to renewable energy sources and providing a clean, reliable power supply to support the facility’s operations. Its innovative design will leverage advanced techniques such as rainwater collection, rooftop solar energy, and a water-efficient air cooling system, ensuring that the center is not just functional, but also environmentally responsible.

A Beacon for Future Developments

Pedro Blanco, AVAIO Digital’s Project Manager in Spain, stated, "This project contributes to consolidating Madrid's northern data center axis and establishes Algete’s emerging role as a data center hub. The sustainable design by AVAIO enables the eco-friendly redevelopment of a former industrial site. We are thrilled with this crucial milestone in our development journey."

As part of AVAIO's expanding portfolio of hyperscale projects across the United States and Western Europe, the Algete Data Hub symbolizes a critical leap in the next generation of data infrastructure. With previous projects securing more than 2 gigawatts of power, the company is focusing on sustainable practices, innovative designs, and scalable solutions that meet the demands of various high-tech industries.

Conclusion

AVAIO Digital is not just contributing infrastructure; it's nurturing an entire ecosystem poised for growth. By establishing this state-of-the-art data hub in Algete, AVAIO Digital stands at the forefront of a technological revolution in Spain. The facility is bound to attract hyperscale customers and tech-driven businesses seeking proximity to established data center markets in Spain and broader Europe.
