Reticulate Micro, Inc. Secures Initial VAST Order from the U.S. Army

In a significant move, Reticulate Micro, Inc. (RMX), a frontrunner in advanced video compression solutions, has announced that it received its first order from the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office Soldier (PEO Soldier). This order pertains to RMX's proprietary VAST™ video compression technology, valued at approximately $135,000, which encompasses the supply of 30 VAST™ units. This procurement is crucial in supporting the Army's Transformation in Contact (TIC) initiative at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC).

The TIC initiative is designed to fast-track the integration of innovative technologies into field operations. This allows soldiers to test and adapt their procedures in live environments, enhancing their ability to innovate under real-world conditions. RMX is committed to supporting multiple TIC engagements with the U.S. Army in the forthcoming year, aiming to leverage VAST™ to enhance situational awareness for dismounted infantry units in potentially hostile scenarios.

VAST™ is a sophisticated, software-based video encoder that provides high-definition video at ultra-low bitrates. One of its key advantages is its versatility, as it works efficiently with nearly any computing platform, including low-power devices such as the Raspberry Pi 5. This characteristic eliminates the need for specialized hardware, making it an optimal choice for real-time streaming from soldier-worn cameras and unmanned systems. The lightweight design, defined as Size, Weight, Power, and Cost-efficient (SWaP-C), ensures that VAST™ can function seamlessly over contested and constrained military radio networks.

The integration of VAST™ into the Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) software suite is anticipated in an upcoming software release, underscoring RMX's commitment to evolving military communications.

Andrew Sheppard, President of RMX Government, emphasized the importance of this collaboration with the Army. He remarked, "By working closely with soldiers and our partners, we are not only demonstrating VAST's™ operational value but are also positioning RMX as an essential solution for the future of real-time tactical video capabilities."

The long-term potential for VAST™ is considerable, with possibilities of equipping up to 10,000 units across the Army's operational footprint. RMX's commitment to innovation ensures that soldiers can use cutting-edge technology to improve their situational awareness on the battlefield.
