Asahi Kasei's Microza® Receives Gold Recognition from EcoVadis
In a significant achievement for environmental sustainability, Asahi Kasei Corporation, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced that its hollow fiber membrane, Microza®, has been awarded a Gold rating in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment set for June 2025. This rating places Asahi Kasei in the top 5% of companies evaluated globally, confirming its commitment to sustainable practices in filtration and separation technologies.
The Microza® membrane is utilized in two primary areas: water treatment processes and industrial applications. In the water treatment sector, it plays a crucial role in purification, as well as in the reuse of industrial wastewater. For industrial processes, it is applied in the filtration and separation of liquids across various sectors, including biopharmaceuticals, food production, and chemical manufacturing. Through these technologies, Asahi Kasei aims to enhance productivity, reduce environmental impact, and optimize the use of limited water resources.
EcoVadis evaluates companies based on their sustainability initiatives across four key domains: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. For this particular assessment, the focus was on the production activities at the Microza® Fuji factory and its supply chain. The factory received notable recognition especially in the Environment category for its outstanding efforts.
EcoVadis's evaluation framework adheres to international sustainability standards. The assessment currently encompasses over 150,000 companies across 250 industries in 185 countries. The growing recognition of EcoVadis as a neutral benchmark for evaluating corporate sustainability efforts signifies its importance in today’s global market.
Kobayashi Satoshi, Head of the Membrane and Water Treatment Division, commented, “This Gold rating serves as a significant motivation to further our mission of supporting society through membrane and separation technologies. We aim to strengthen our technological innovations and global collaborations. Our focus will remain on preserving safe and clean water resources while improving the productivity of separation and concentration processes across various industries, contributing to the creation of a sustainable society.”
The Asahi Kasei Group actively engages in sustainability initiatives, propelling efforts that will enhance its contributions to a sustainable future based on this latest evaluation.
