TED and New Channel Forge Exclusive Partnership in China

On March 16, 2026, TED and New Channel International Education Group celebrated a significant milestone in educational collaboration during a formal signing ceremony held in New York. With leaders from both organizations in attendance, including TED’s Chairman Chris Anderson and New Channel’s Chairman Professor Hu Min, this partnership signifies a new era of collaboration aimed at enhancing international education and cultural communication.

The alignment of TED and New Channel marks a pivotal moment as it represents TED’s inaugural exclusive strategic collaboration in China. New Channel, with its mission deeply rooted in fostering young learners with a blend of Chinese cultural heritage and global competence, has established a commendable reputation over its 22-year existence. The organization has made it possible for countless students to seek opportunities across the globe. This partnership aims to leverage premium content alongside innovative educational models to create integrated pathways for learning and global dialogue.

During the ceremony, Professor Hu emphasized that New Channel's Global Competence Model resonates with TED's focus on interdisciplinary innovation and idea sharing. In an age increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence, TED’s advocacy for ‘presentation literacy’ aligns seamlessly with the framework of global competence, promoting essential skills such as public speaking, cross-cultural communication, and innovative thinking among students.

Moreover, this partnership will enhance students' creativity and critical thinking abilities while deepening their understanding of diverse cultures. One of the collaborative projects that emerged from this partnership is the upcoming Chinese edition of Chris Anderson's book, Thank You for Coming to My TED Talk: A Guide to Great Public Speaking. This publication, translated by Professor Hu and Professor Caixia Chen, is designed to aid teenagers in mastering public speaking skills through structured guidance on idea development and effective message delivery, utilizing TED’s vast reservoir of knowledge and insights.

Professor Hu remarked on the critical nature of expressive capabilities in a world where technology often eclipses personal value. He hopes this book will empower Chinese youth to build independent thought processes and hone their public communication skills, extending beyond technical knowledge. Anderson echoed this sentiment, expressing enthusiasm about how this partnership can open new avenues for cross-cultural understanding. He stated, “When children share ideas, magical things can happen. It reinforces the realization that we are all human and share commonalities.”

He continues to hope that this book will serve as a gateway for Chinese youth, enabling ideas that deserve a global audience to flourish and resonate beyond borders.

Prior to this formal agreement, TED and New Channel had already collaborated on various initiatives aimed at promoting cross-cultural communication among the youth in the context of AI advancements. Their earlier undertakings include the launch of the TED science video book series, titled Learning Science with TED, and the
