A Glimpse into the Upcoming Stage Play 'Isshuuki Mute'

The much-anticipated stage production 'Isshuuki Mute' is set to debut on August 12, 2026, at the Tsukiji Hongan-ji Buddhist Hall in Tokyo, running until August 16, 2026. Tickets are now available for purchase through Confetti, operated by Long Run Planning Co., Ltd., based in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

This marks the 12th performance from the theater company WaVe'S, with Yoshinobu Hirakawa serving as the playwright and Keisuke Igarashi directing. Leading the cast is Anna Yamaki, known for her voice role as Sakuna Shirose in the anime The Idolmaster Shiny Colors, portraying the character Harumi Katakura. Tooru Yamaki, recognized for his role in the musical Nintama Rantarou, will play Youhta Katakura. The production also features a talented ensemble cast, including Yuu Akiba, Haruto, Kouhei Tanaka, Ami Kobayashi, Rai Niha, Otoaki Makiura, Hibiki Watanabe, Takuya Yoshida, Shinichi Sakamoto, Mizuho Hachifuku, Yuka Iseki, Osamu Miura, and Masaru Arai.

The Storyline

Harumi, born into an average household as a salaryman's daughter, marries Youhta who is raised by distant relatives with no family ties of his own. Tragically, Youhta succumbs to thyroid cancer just a year after their marriage, prompting Harumi to reach out to classmates and acquaintances for a remote memorial service on the anniversary of his death. Amidst the fading memories and grief for Youhta, Harumi struggles to connect with her husband's past, only to find that he isn't quite the person she remembers. The memorial takes a peculiar turn as a participant remains muted and unseen on the screen. Who is the real Youhta?
