CPKC Holiday Train 2024: A Remarkable Journey of Giving
The annual CPKC Holiday Train has once again proven to be a remarkable event, raising more than $1.75 million and collecting over 130,000 pounds of food for local food banks across Canada and the United States. This initiative, which has been ongoing since 1999, showcases the incredible spirit of community and generosity that embodies the holiday season.
A Journey of Hope
Over the past four weeks, the Holiday Train made its way through numerous towns, captivating hearts and rallying support for those in need. CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am continually amazed by the excitement and enthusiasm the Holiday Train generates during its annual journey across North America, celebrating the holiday season while supporting communities and charities.”
The CPKC Holiday Train has raised an impressive total of over $26.1 million since its inception and has collected more than 5.4 million pounds of food. This year alone, the train hosted 166 live music shows spanning seven provinces in Canada and 13 states in the U.S., bringing together communities through the power of music and kindness.
Highlights from the 2024 Holiday Train
Among the notable highlights from this year’s program:
- - First-Ever Stop in Atlantic Canada: On November 21, the Holiday Train stopped in Saint John, N.B., marking a historic moment for the event as it ventured into new territories.
- - Star-Studded Performances: Featured artists included popular acts such as James Barker Band, American Authors, KT Tunstall, and many more, enhancing the experience for attendees and encouraging donations.
- - Local Impact: In addition to the main train, the CPKC Holiday Express channeled over $108,000 for local food banks as it visited communities in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. Additionally, the Tren Navideño, a uniquely decorated train operating in Mexico, brought holiday cheer to nine communities this year, highlighting the cross-border efforts of CPKC to uplift the holiday spirit among diverse audiences.
