MONORAIL QUEST: A New Adventure in Digital Collecting

The world of rail travel is taking an exciting turn as six prominent monorail companies across Japan join forces for a unique initiative titled MONORAIL QUEST. Set to launch on July 20, 2026, this digital stamp rally aims to engage travelers and collectors alike through an innovative use of technology. This is a collaboration led by the Travel Yomiuri Publishing Co., a subsidiary of Yomiuri Travel, and the Yomiuri Shimbun Osaka Headquarters.

From July 20, 2026, until July 31, 2027, participants will be able to collect exclusive digital stamps from all six participating monorail companies. Each company will offer one unique digital stamp, making a total of six to collect. Those who successfully acquire all these stamps at designated stations will receive a special reward, the MONORAIL QUEST Completion Stamp. This unique achievement requires a separate application to claim.

Participating Monorail Companies and Sales Locations

The six companies that are part of this exciting new initiative include:

• - Shonan Monorail (Stations: Ofuna and Enoshima)
• - Kitakyushu Monorail (Station: Kokura)
• - Chiba Urban Monorail (Station: Toga)
• - Osaka Monorail (Station: Osaka Airport)
• - Tama Urban Monorail (Stations: Tama Center, Takahata-fudo, Tachikawa Minami, Tachikawa Kita, and Tamagawa Josui)
• - Okinawa Urban Monorail (Station: Naha Airport)

At these stations, you can purchase each digital stamp for just 550 yen (including tax). Participants can access the digital service by registering for free in the TEI-INCHO DIGITAL online app. Upon registration, users will scan QR codes displayed at the stations to collect their stamps, which are digitally secured through NFT technology, ensuring authenticity and making duplicates nearly impossible.

The TEI-INCHO DIGITAL service is designed to revolutionize the way collectors interact with monorail travel. Each digital stamp acts as a collectible Non-Fungible Token (NFT), a secure asset stored on a blockchain that guarantees the uniqueness of the stamp. This technology allows for effective management of collectibles while providing a seamless purchasing experience directly via smartphones.

With over 60 participating transport organizations, primarily local railways collaborating under the Third Sector Railway Association, MONORAIL QUEST is set to redefine how fans of travel and railways engage with their journeys.
