MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy Celebrates Its 3rd Graduation Ceremony in the Philippines

Celebrating the Future: Graduation Ceremony at MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy

On February 3, 2026, the MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy, a prominent institution operated in collaboration with Magsaysay Maritime Corporation, held its third graduation ceremony in Dasmariñas, Philippines. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Bernard Olalia, the Administrator of the Philippines Overseas Employment Administration, and Ambassador Kazuhiko Koshikawa of Japan to the Philippines, showcasing the strong ties between the two nations.

Around 640 attendees, including staff and board members from Magsaysay Maritime Corporation and MOL, gathered to honor the achievements of the graduates who completed their comprehensive training, including crucial onboard experience. The ceremony highlighted the significant role of the academy in shaping future maritime professionals.

During his speech, Akira Ikeda, the Chairman of MOL, imparted encouraging words to the graduates, urging them to leverage the knowledge, leadership skills, and growth mindset they developed during their studies. He emphasized the importance of ensuring maritime safety and contributing positively to global development and environmental stewardship.

Accompanying the graduates were their proud families and friends, celebrating the hard work and dedication that resulted in this significant milestone in their careers.

Future Endeavors for Graduates

It is projected that approximately half of the graduating class will obtain their maritime qualifications and serve the MOL group as third officers or engineers. As the demand for skilled Filipino seafarers continues to grow within the company’s operational fleet, the academy remains committed to nurturing capable professionals prepared for the global maritime industry.

To enhance the educational experience, MOL plans to relocate its crew training facility, MOL Training Center (Phils.) Inc., to the premises of the MMMA by April 2027. This move will provide students easy access to state-of-the-art technology and equipment, improving their learning experience and facilitating better interaction with existing crew members for enhanced understanding of career opportunities in maritime professions.

By cultivating skilled manpower and generating employment opportunities, this initiative aligns with the sustainability goals of fostering human development and community growth, equipping graduates to participate meaningfully in the maritime sector.

Conclusion

The MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of maritime professionals in the Philippines. By maintaining rigorous training and educational standards, the academy not only contributes to the success of its graduates but also supports the industry’s need for competent and responsible seafarers. As operations expand and evolve, MMMA is set to remain a beacon of excellence in maritime training, further solidifying its position as a critical player in the global maritime landscape.
