Japan Striker Launches Innovative Reprocessed Catheter for Healthcare Solutions

Japan Striker Launches Innovative Reprocessed Catheter

Japan Striker Corporation, headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is proud to announce the launch of its latest reprocessed single-use medical device, the "Reprocessed Intracardiac Ultrasound Catheter S" (referred to as 'this product'), starting July 15, 2026. Since the introduction of the first reprocessed single-use device (R-SUD) in April 2020, Japan Striker has consistently expanded its offerings in the field of cardiology. With this new product, the total number of R-SUDs approved for sale by Japan Striker will reach five, thus establishing a comprehensive lineup capable of offering R-SUDs for all three major intracardiac ultrasound catheters commonly used in domestic treatments of cardiac arrhythmia.

The primary function of this product is to diagnose and treat tachyarrhythmias. It features an advanced ultrasound transducer at its tip, enabling real-time visualization of anatomical structures and functions of the heart and major blood vessels from inside the cardiac chamber. Additionally, it can display the location of other instruments placed within the heart on the imaging interface. Another key feature includes integration with a 3D mapping system using position data obtained from a magnetic sensor, enhancing procedural accuracy.

By utilizing reprocessed single-use medical devices, Japan Striker not only contributes to reducing medical waste but also offers a potential decrease in healthcare costs. This is due to lower instrument-related expenses and reduced costs associated with medical waste disposal for healthcare facilities. Awareness and understanding of R-SUDs have been increasing within the medical community, leading to their widespread adoption in various healthcare institutions, including national university hospitals and public hospitals.

Furthermore, with the 2024 fiscal year revision of medical remuneration, a new ‘R-SUD Usage Add-On’ will be established. This allows accredited healthcare institutions to add 10% of the designated rate for R-SUD to the set points for corresponding surgeries, reinforcing the encouragement for R-SUD utilization.

The precedent set in the United States shows that the R-SUD market was estimated to reach approximately $688.1 million in 2023, with continued growth expected. In Japan, there is significant anticipation for R-SUD as a solution to ongoing healthcare challenges. Japan Striker, as a leading company in the Japanese medical equipment sector, remains committed to promoting the utilization of R-SUDs.
