CVS Health Launches Workforce Innovation and Talent Center to Empower Columbus Community
CVS Health's New Initiative in Columbus: Workforce Innovation and Talent Center
CVS Health, a prominent player in the healthcare landscape, has made a significant move by opening its new Workforce Innovation and Talent Center (WITC) in Columbus, Ohio. Located at the Rosewind Community Center, the WITC aims to enhance workforce opportunities while simultaneously bridging gaps in healthcare access for the local community.
The new facility is a collaboration with several local organizations including Eckerd Connects, Columbus Jewish and Family Services, and Columbus State Community College, showcasing CVS Health's commitment to community empowerment. The center is designed to provide vital resources such as free workforce training, health services, and career guidance that can dramatically impact the lives of many individuals.
One inspiring story comes from Triunity Darden, who embarked on a transformative journey with the help of the WITC. Initially facing challenges in her career path, she found support programs provided by the center useful in redefining her future. After successfully completing her training, she secured a position as a pharmacy technician at CVS Health. Darden's journey is emblematic of the impact the WITC strives to achieve—helping individuals find meaningful employment and carve out successful career paths.
In order to create a realistic working environment, the center features a simulated retail space where trainees can engage in hands-on job training. This practical approach not only prepares participants for roles such as pharmacy technicians but also for customer service, call center positions, and retail associate roles. Upon completion of the program, participants gain access to job opportunities within CVS Health alongside additional resources from Aetna's Community Resource Center, which includes healthcare assessments and navigational support for health benefits.
Sheryl Burke, Senior Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility and Chief Sustainability Officer at CVS Health, emphasized the center's role in skill development for in-demand jobs.
