Furano Hosts Career Experience Program for Middle School Students at Lavista

Fostering Career Perspectives: DOMINISTA CHALLENGE in Furano

From October 16 to 17, 2025, Lavista Furano Hills will serve as the venue for a unique career experience program called the "DOMINISTA CHALLENGE". Organized by Kyoritsu Maintenance Co., Ltd., which operates the Dormy Inn business hotels, this initiative is designed for students from Furano Municipal Furano West Junior High School.

What is the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE?

The DOMINISTA CHALLENGE is a career experience program launched in 2019, specifically targeting junior high and high school students across various hotels in Japan. This program allows students to engage in front desk operations, room cleaning, and setting up the public bath before it opens. Through these hands-on experiences, students get a behind-the-scenes look at the hospitality industry, gaining insights into the importance of helping others and the value of collaboration. In an increasingly globalized world, these experiences also contribute to students’ understanding of multicultural coexistence.

With over 70 schools participating nationwide and 21 from the Hokkaido and Tohoku regions alone, the program serves as a vital component of career education, nurturing students' vocational perspectives while fostering a sense of community.

Program Objectives

The main goal of the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE is to equip students with essential skills and knowledge for the workforce while deepening their understanding of future career choices. The activities include:
  • - Dates: October 16-17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • - Classroom Sessions: Discussions on the hospitality industry, the joys and appeals of working in hotels, and the essence of customer service.
  • - Hands-On Experiences: Students will engage in facility management, room cleaning, and pre-opening preparations for the public bath.

Insights from School Officials

According to officials from Furano Municipal Furano West Junior High School, the theme for their program is centered around appreciating contributions and learning the value of kindness and trust. They hope this experience will encourage students to consider who they are delivering value to through their work and to appreciate their connections with society.

Comments from the Hotel Manager

Yoji Oue, the General Manager of Lavista Furano Hills, expressed gratitude for being chosen as the venue for the career experience program. He highlighted that the hospitality industry thrives on the gratitude expressed by customers and the trust built among colleagues. He hopes that this experience will help students understand the joy of serving customers and the significance of working in a collaborative environment. Oue emphasized that this opportunity could serve as an important step in the students’ journey toward their future.
