IMG Survey Reveals International Travel Trends and Top Destinations for 2025

IMG Travel Outlook Survey Reveals New Trends for 2025

The International Medical Group (IMG) has just released its annual Travel Outlook Survey, which provides valuable insights into how consumers plan to travel in 2025. Over 1,500 IMG customers shared their thoughts, revealing a strong inclination for international travel. Notably, an impressive 96% of participants expressed their intention to journey abroad this coming year.

Key Findings from the Survey

The survey results indicate a significant trend towards multiple international trips. More than half of the respondents (51%) aim to embark on three or more international adventures throughout the year. When it comes to domestic travel within the U.S., 85% of respondents plan at least one trip, with 52% anticipating three or more domestic journeys. As Steve Paraboschi, IMG's president, remarked, understanding travel intentions is crucial for adapting services to meet the evolving needs of travelers.

Types of Trips on the Rise

Among the various trip types, urban tourism stands out as the most favored, with 53% intending to visit major cities. Following closely, 51% of respondents want to reunite with family members residing overseas. Beach vacations and rural tourism are also significant, appealing to 42% and 40%, respectively. Other notable trends include adventure travel, special interest trips (like concert tourism), and cruises. According to Justin Poehler, IMG's Chief Commercial Officer, the boom in concert tourism is expected to persist into 2025, fueled by global tours from major artists like Taylor Swift.

Increasing Travel Budgets

Interestingly, the survey highlights an increase in travel expenditures, with 29% of respondents planning to spend more in 2025 compared to 2024. Moreover, the trends reflect a rise in solo travel, with 48% of respondents aiming for individual trips, particularly to visit family or explore urban areas. Business travel is also seeing a surge, as 57% of participants plan work-related trips, and many are likely to blend work with leisure on these journeys.

Concerns of Travelers

However, concerns about travel safety remain a priority. Consistently, respondents highlighted worries about health issues while traveling, as well as the risks of trip cancellations. The primary concerns for 2025 are:
1. Getting sick or injured during the trip
2. Cancellations prior to departure
3. Transportation issues to and from destinations
4. Interrupting planned trips

Rising Popular Destinations

As for destinations, participants expressed interest in traveling to Canada, Italy, Mexico, Japan, and France, all anticipated to be trending destinations for 2025.
