Orvana Minerals Corp. Reaches Production Milestone in Bolivia
In a significant advancement for its operations, Orvana Minerals Corp. recently announced that its Bolivian subsidiary, Empresa Minera Paitití S.A. (EMIPA), has produced its first gold-silver doré bar. This milestone comes as the company processes oxide materials stockpiled at its Don Mario site, which is located in southeastern Bolivia.
The production of the first doré bar signals a positive confirmation of the metallurgical performance of the expanded Don Mario Processing Plant. Juan Gavidia, the Chief Executive Officer of Orvana, expressed satisfaction with the progress, emphasizing the company’s commitment to increasing throughput and optimizing performance while ramping up operations safely.
Oxides Stockpile Project Overview
The Don Mario operation, now under the management of EMIPA, had previously seen a suspension in mining and milling activities due to the depletion of mineral reserves in early 2020. To address this, Orvana has been executing the Oxides Stockpile Project (OSP), which focuses on processing accumulated oxide materials from prior mining activities at the Don Mario site. The project not only aims to boost gold and silver production but also facilitates the future production of copper cathodes.
The enhancement includes a comprehensive upgrade of the gold-silver circuit of the Don Mario Processing Plant, which is designed to improve the efficiency of resource recovery. The OSP marks an essential step towards revitalizing the Don Mario operations and expanding production capabilities. The flow of operations includes systematic pathways for recovering copper, gold, and silver from the materials processed.
Future Goals and Production Plans
As operations ramp up, EMIPA aims to meet its goals of increasing overall production throughput and refining metallurgical performance. High on the priority list is the push towards achieving full commercial production of gold-silver doré bars along with copper cathodes. Maintaining rigorous cost control will be vital as these operations progress.
Throughout fiscal 2026, production levels will hinge on the efficacy of ramp-up activities as well as the overall mechanical performance of the plant. The company has indicated that it will keep stakeholders informed regarding the ongoing ramp-up progress and other significant operational updates.
