Japan Sports Masters 2025: A Celebration of Athletic Spirit



The Japan Sports Masters, an exceptional sports event tailored for athletes aged 35 and older, is set to take place in Ehime Prefecture in September 2025. Organized by JSPO (Japan Sports Association), the tournament aims to foster an environment for both participating and supporting sports, embodying the spirit of competition and camaraderie among senior athletes.

Event Details


The competition will unfold in two phases. The preliminary events will run from September 6 to September 8, featuring swimming, cycling, and golf. Following this, from September 20 to September 23, the main events will embark with ten different sports, including soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, soft tennis, baseball, softball, badminton, karate, and bowling. The opening ceremony will take place on the evening of September 19.

Participation


Anticipating around 7,460 participants, including a distinguished delegation from Korea comprising 158 athletes, the Japan Sports Masters 2025 is expected to spotlight the competitive spirit of seniors. Their participation emphasizes the importance of sports for all ages, challenging stereotypes regarding senior athletes.

Venues Across Ehime


The events will be staged at various venues across 11 cities and 4 towns in Ehime, showcasing the region's commitment to sports. Venues will include Matsuyama, Imabari, Uwajima, and many others, hosting a total of 32 locations. This widespread approach ensures that a variety of local communities can engage with and support the event.

Notable Athletes


Among the participants, some standout athletes will represent their respective sports. Notably, the oldest participant in the karate competition is 87-year-old Chika Nojima from Hiroshima Prefecture, while the bowling category will feature 79-year-old Masayo Teramura from Osaka Prefecture. Their participation not only reflects dedication but also serves as an inspiration for others in the senior community.
