JSPO Announces New Leadership Team for 2025-2026

On June 25, 2025, the Japan Sports Association (JSPO) held an extraordinary board meeting and announced the selection of its new representatives and executive directors for the years 2025 and 2026. JSPO, a pivotal organization dedicated to promoting sports in Japan, is led by its President, Toshiyaki Endo, alongside Vice Presidents Naomi Masuko, Fujio Tanaka, and Eriko Sannomiya. Other key figures in the new leadership team include Executive Director Yusaku Morioka and Managing Directors Hiroshi Yamamoto, Takashi Katsuta, and Fumiaki Iwata.

JSPO's mission remains steadfast: to foster an environment where everyone can enjoy, participate in, and support sports. Their motto, "Together for Sports and the Future We Desire," emphasizes their commitment to promoting the joy and inclusivity of sporting activities.

Founded in 1911, JSPO, originally known as the Dai-Nippon Taiiku Kyokai, was established to enhance national sports promotion and international competitiveness. It transitioned through various forms, eventually adopting its current name on April 1, 2018. Over its extensive history, JSPO has prioritized constructing sporting events that cater to all demographics, including the National Sports Festival and the Japan Sports Masters, while fostering community engagement through local sports clubs and various developmental programs.

Moreover, JSPO is instrumental in nurturing sports coaches and enhancing sporting experiences by grounding its activities in the latest medical and scientific advancements related to sports.

Through professional collaborations with over 60 sporting federations, 47 prefectural sports associations, and various other organizations, JSPO continues to serve as a unified force in advancing sports across Japan. Their collaborative efforts ensure that a broad spectrum of initiatives, from grassroots to elite levels, are effectively executed, allowing citizens across the nation to opt-in to sports, whether that means playing, spectating, or supporting.

As the new leadership starts its term, JSPO is geared towards implementing its mid-term plan for 2023-2027. This plan lays a roadmap for achieving equitable and far-reaching sporting opportunities within the country. The culmination of these efforts will not only uplift individual sports but will also strengthen the overall sporting culture in Japan, fostering a vibrant and engaging community.

In conclusion, the JSPO is poised for a progressive chapter under its newly appointed board, striving to inspire future generations to embrace sports wholeheartedly and lead healthy, active lifestyles. The JSPO invites all citizens to engage with their local sports initiatives and partake in the shared goal of building a sports-loving nation.
