Grafana Labs Achieves Major Milestones with 10,000 Customers and $600 Million ARR

Grafana Labs Celebrates Major Growth Milestones

Grafana Labs, a leading provider of open observability platforms, has recently announced remarkable achievements, crossing the threshold of 10,000 customers globally and exceeding an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $600 million. These accomplishments underscore a significant trend: an increasing number of companies are adopting open observability standards in preparation for the AI era.

On August 26, 2026, Grafana Labs confirmed its rapid expansion, attributing the growth to the escalating complexity of systems and the operational burdens companies face. In today’s landscape, businesses need to employ AI not just for the automated monitoring of their systems but also to make sense of the operational intricacies. This necessity was highlighted in Grafana’s “2026 Observability Survey,” which revealed that their context-aware AI agent, Grafana Assistant, is currently in use by over 18,000 organizations to help navigate observability data for troubleshooting and exploration.

The demand for observability solutions has surged as organizations also grapple with the need to monitor AI systems effectively. Following the deployment of AI in operational environments, issues such as model drift and unexpected agent behaviors may arise, necessitating comprehensive monitoring strategies. Traditional metrics such as latency and error signals no longer suffice, as evidenced by the survey where 57% of organizations reported implementing some form of LLM observability.

This burgeoning dual requirement—monitoring AI systems while leveraging AI for observability—has been a driving force behind Grafana Labs’ growth over the past year.

Grafana Labs co-founder Anthony Woods emphasized, “Different organizations are at varying stages regarding their observability efforts, but the advent of AI has introduced new challenges that never existed before. Organizations need to monitor their systems and simultaneously oversee the AI they are deploying. For almost all organizations today, the unequivocal answer is ‘both.’ This is what has fueled Grafana’s growth leading to this milestone.”

Key Growth Indicators

  • - Customer Base: Over 10,000 organizations worldwide, including some of the largest AI-native companies.
  • - Revenue: Their ARR has significantly surpassed $600 million, driven by the expansion of Grafana Cloud and solutions like Grafana Assistant and Adaptive Telemetry.
  • - Increased Utilization: Average product usage per contracted customer has nearly doubled in the last two years, growing from 2.3 to 4.4. Currently, 87.8% of contracted customers use two or more products.
  • - AI Integration: More than 18,000 organizations actively use Grafana Assistant. In the first half of 2026, a majority of new customers utilized Grafana Assistant for faster onboarding and quicker time-to-value.
  • - Cloud Adoption: The number of monthly active users on Grafana Cloud increased from around 127,000 to over 251,000 in the past two years, with over 1.1 million unique users logging in during the same period.

Co-founder and CEO Raj Dutt stated, “What stands out this year is not merely that customers are adopting AI, but they are deepening their utilization of Grafana post-AI adoption. Now, the average customer uses four or more products, up from just over two two years ago. This shift is not coincidental; organizations deploying AI need platforms that can grow with their expanding needs, rather than piecemeal solutions.”

AI Week and New Features

From July 27 to 31, Grafana Labs hosted its inaugural “AI Week,” during which six new AI-related features were launched. Each feature addresses a common challenge posed by the integration of AI into production environments—gaining visibility into what’s actually happening.

The Grafana Assistant Investigations, for example, coordinates multiple AI agents to investigate incidents, cross-referencing signals from metrics, logs, and traces to create comprehensive reports that often finish before on-call engineers conclude reading alerts.

On the other hand, Grafana Agent Observability monitors systems that may encounter issues. It extends Grafana's well-established mechanisms for monitoring, alerting, and cost management to AI agents and models in production, tracking latency, token usage, and agent decision-making alongside other stacks.

Supporting these features are the Grafana Cloud MCP server and gcx (Grafana Cloud CLI), enabling engineers to run functions atop the Grafana Cloud UI quickly. Additional new functionalities include Grafana Assistant Workspace, offering a full-screen experience for chat, data exploration, and visualization creation, and Grafana Assistant Automations, which allow users to save prompts for automated execution scheduling, transforming one-off investigations into periodic checks.

Adaptive Telemetry Reducing Noise

AI systems generate increased telemetry data alongside existing infrastructure and application data. As a result, costs associated with preserving unused signals have surged in parallel with system expansions.

Grafana Cloud’s Adaptive Telemetry suite addresses this, having optimized 28.5 billion metrics series, consequently reducing log volume by 26 petabytes (PB) while preserving necessary insights without increasing telemetry costs, averaging a reduction of 30-50%.

CTO Tom Wilkie asserted, “With every new AI workload added, the amounts of data and noise to manage increase. Without Adaptive Telemetry, ensuring observability costs are sustainable would be impossible. As AI generates telemetry at a speed beyond human verification, this capability’s importance cannot be overstated.”

Continuous Platform Investment and Industry Praise

Over the past year, Grafana Labs has not only introduced AI-related features but also significantly upgraded its platform, including capabilities like the Grafana Cloud Knowledge Graph, which automatically maps relationships among services, infrastructure, and telemetry, and offerings tailored for regulated industries.

These enhancements have culminated in numerous industry recognitions:
  • - Named a leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for observability platforms for three consecutive years, coming first in ‘completeness of vision’ for two years.
  • - Selected as a leader and outperformer in GigaOm’s Cloud Performance Testing Radar Report.
  • - Awarded “Observability Innovator of the Year” at the Tech Innovation Cubed Awards.
  • - Received “Best Observability Solution” in the DevOps Dozen Awards.
  • - Honored with “Data Observability Solution of the Year” by Data Breakthrough Awards.
