Celebrate Antonio Salieri at Piko-3
On October 13, 2025, the third installment of the captivating event "Piko-3: Antonio Salieri" will take place at Studio Four, located in Sugamo, Toshima, Tokyo. This unique show combines the art of
Kōdan (storytelling) with the elegance of piano performances. Tickets are currently available through Confetti, operated by Long Run Planning Inc., based in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
Since its inception in 2023, "Piko-3" has been showcasing how storytelling and musical performances can merge to create an unforgettable experience. The focus this time is on the renowned composer Antonio Salieri, who sadly doesn't receive as much recognition today. However, many might remember him as a pivotal character from the acclaimed film
Amadeus.
Salieri was a celebrated figure in his lifetime, serving as a court composer and excelling in the opera world. Despite his achievements, he became the subject of a notorious rumor towards the end of his life, falsely accused of poisoning his rival, Mozart. This scandal resembles what we classify today as a classic case of fake news, causing significant harm to his reputation. Yet, Salieri remains a pivotal figure in music history, known for nurturing numerous talented composers.
To honor Salieri and to speak to his legacy, this show will explore 19th-century short operatic works inspired by him, alongside original
Kōdan narratives that delve into the true character of Salieri. This event aims not only to celebrate his life but also to restore his honor, presenting the audience with an enriching understanding of a misunderstood composer.
