The Vision Behind the Tour
The 'Roots' initiative aims to curate authentic experiences rooted in the Edo-period traditions that have been preserved in Sumida. By linking the mastery of Sumo wrestlers, the artistic skills of geisha, and the historical significance of the Sumida River Fireworks—reportedly started by Tokugawa Yoshimune in response to disaster—the program fosters an enriched understanding of Japanese culture in a dynamic, interactive setting. This unique opportunity to connect with the local heritage is embodied in the concept of 'Michi,' representing the pathways to deeper cultural appreciation.
