He possesses a breadth of experience managing complex energy projects that include gas, wind, and solar generation facilities, as well as substations and enhanced electric infrastructure. His work has consistently involved mitigating risks through careful planning, supporting permitting efforts, and negotiating key contracts—all while collaborating with multiple stakeholders to successfully execute projects from conceptual stages to operational status.
Dormo holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University and an MBA from Capital University, and he is a licensed Professional Engineer and a certified Project Management Professional. His credentials and experience position him well to undertake the responsibilities that come with his new role at FirstEnergy.
Among the key projects that he will be evaluating and advancing is the proposed Maidsville Energy Center. This planned facility is anticipated to provide 1,200 megawatts of power through a combined-cycle natural gas arrangement, coupled with an additional 70 megawatts generated from solar energy sources. Currently, Mon Power and Potomac Edison, both subsidiaries of FirstEnergy, are awaiting approval from the Public Service Commission of West Virginia for this initiative, which reflects the type of forward-looking projects Dormo aims to shepherd as part of his mandate.
