ChangAn Automobile Achieves Global Expansion with New Factory in Thailand

ChangAn Marks a Historic Milestone in Global Expansion



On May 16, 2025, ChangAn Automobile officially began operations at its first overseas New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturing facility located in Rayong, Thailand. This launch coincides with the assembly of its 28.59 millionth vehicle, a right-hand drive DEEPAL S05, marking a pivotal moment in the company's transformation from product exports to comprehensive industrial globalization. This strategic initiative underscores ChangAn's commitment to green and intelligent manufacturing, brand development, and the creation of a robust digital ecosystem.

In attendance at the launch was Thailand's Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who met with ChangAn's Chairman, Zhu Huarong, to express support for the company's localized operations and plans to develop an entire industrial chain within the country. This event is significant as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, adding historical importance to the occasion.

Factory Overview and Production Capacity



Situated in Rayong Province, the factory spans approximately 960,000 square meters and boasts an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles, which is projected to double by 2027. This facility not only aims to enhance localization and low-carbon development but also fosters long-term cooperation and support for Thailand’s existing supply chains. By establishing its presence in Thailand, ChangAn is poised to create 30,000 jobs and significantly contribute to increasing local tax revenues, aligning with the company's broader social responsibility objectives.

ChangAn's Rayong Factory further strengthens the foundation of its Vast Ocean Plan, showcasing the company’s capabilities in developing a world-class intelligent manufacturing hub characterized by high quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The facility emphasizes the integration of new energy vehicle production with digitalization, intelligence, and sustainability. Designed with environmentally friendly principles, the plant incorporates photovoltaic power, rainwater recycling, air recirculation technologies, virtual simulations, and digital systems aimed at minimizing energy consumption and maximizing operational efficiency.
