Simcere Zaiming and Roche Forge Global Licensing Partnership for Innovative Cancer Treatment

Partnership Announcement: Simcere Zaiming and Roche

In a significant advance in the field of oncology, Simcere Zaiming, a subsidiary of Simcere Pharmaceutical Group, has entered into an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement with Roche. This pact centers on the development and commercialization of SIM0660, a tri-specific antibody that targets CD79a, CD19, and CD3, with potential therapeutic applications in diseases mediated by B-cells.

Details of the Agreement

According to the agreement, Roche will gain global exclusive rights to develop, manufacture, and market SIM0660. Simcere Zaiming could receive up to $1.53 billion in total payments, including an upfront payment of $75 million. Additionally, the company is eligible for tiered royalties that could reach double-digit percentages of future net sales.

Product Overview

SIM0660, developed by Simcere Zaiming, employs cutting-edge T-cell engaging polyspecific antibody technology. By combining a CD3-engaging arm with binding domains targeting both CD79a and CD19, the molecule aims to induce robust T-cell mediated cytotoxicity while minimizing cytokine release. Its innovative approach is positioned to address a wide range of B-cell mediated diseases and provide a differentiated therapeutic option for patients previously treated with CD20 or CD19-directed therapies.

Furthermore, SIM0660 may also hold promise for treating B-cell mediated autoimmune diseases, as its targeted B-cell depletion could provide significant clinical advantages.

Statements from Leadership

Renhong Tang, the Chairman and CEO of Simcere Zaiming, expressed strong commitment to developing state-of-the-art T-cell engaging therapies via the company's proprietary platform. "We are excited to collaborate with Roche to accelerate the clinical development of SIM0660. Through our synergistic innovation, we hope to benefit patients worldwide soon," he stated.

Boris L. Zaïtra, Head of Corporate Business Development at Roche, highlighted that this partnership reflects Roche’s dedication to working with innovative companies to advance new therapeutic options for patients in critical need. He stated, "SIM0660 represents a potential breakthrough for patients suffering from B-cell mediated diseases."
