Torikago - Sostenuto -: A Unique Fusion of Voice and Music
The highly anticipated recital concert
Torikago - Sostenuto - will grace the stage once again on February 28, 2026, at the iconic Nakano ZERO in Tokyo. This event has been stirring excitement among fans due to its fascinating blend of live performances by talented voice actors and musicians, along with a branched narrative that promises to captivate the audience’s imagination.
What's New?
A noteworthy aspect of this year’s concert is the unveiling of a soundtrack that features music from previous installments, along with new compositions. Recently, the official YouTube channel for
Torikago Theatre released a sneak peek of the instrumental audio for the theatrical song,
Kiri ni Tsutsumareta Koi no Owari ni, performed by the famed voice actress Noriko Hidaka.
In an exclusive interview, we delve into the creative process behind this new song, featuring a dialogue between the original creator Ai Ninomiya and musician Kanosuke Takao. The interview not only offers insight into the song’s inception but also shares aspects of its unique structure, which diverges from traditional concert formats.
Behind the Music
Ninomiya reflects on the decision that established the concert's core concept. “We agreed that we must create a song, as it is imperative to highlight the musical nature of our performance,” she reveals. Initially, the number of songs was not determined, which led to brainstorming sessions with Takao, where they conceptualized a song with contrasting lyrics and melodies across its verses. The result? Crafting a single song that could be appreciated differently during the matinee and evening performances.
Takao adds to this by explaining the complex structure of the song. “We aimed for a design where the melodies of both the first and second choruses blend seamlessly while maintaining their distinctiveness. It was quite the challenge!” He detailed their elaborate composition process that involved creating intros, verses, and varying accompaniment to evoke different moods, without compromising the song's cohesiveness.
Ninomiya's excitement is palpable as she describes the experience of hearing the demo. “It was incredible! I requested to include elements from the main theme during the interlude, and it turned out beautifully. The finale overlapping part is simply astounding!” The collaboration emphasizes the growth since the last concert, fostering creative synergy among production staff.
What to Expect
Beyond the debut of
Kiri ni Tsutsumareta Koi no Owari ni, the concert will also introduce a new character, Lockwell, voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki, presenting an original composition unique to this character. The performance will feature a rich tapestry of songs that reflect diverse character personalities, combined with a melancholy yet beautiful main theme, all performed live with strings and piano.
For those familiar with the
Torikago series or newcomers, this concert is set to be an enchanting experience. You are encouraged to listen to the currently available soundtrack segments and anticipate an unforgettable journey into the
