The 26th High School International Art Exhibition: A Global Showcase of Youthful Creativity in Tokyo

The 26th High School International Art Exhibition: Celebrating Young Talent

From August 6 to 17, 2025, the National Art Center in Tokyo will host the 26th High School International Art Exhibition, uniting young artists from Japan and around the globe. This prestigious exhibition brings together high school students' works in the fields of calligraphy and visual arts, showcasing their creative energy and cultural exchanges across borders.

Participating students hail from various countries, including the UK, Ireland, Cambodia, and Spain, making this exhibition a vibrant platform for international artistic collaboration. The event has gained recognition over the years as a significant gathering for young artists, often referred to as the "Koshien of High School Calligraphy and Art" since its inception in 2000.

This year, an impressive total of 11,751 works were submitted (10,287 for calligraphy and 1,464 for visual arts). After careful evaluation—ensuring anonymity in the selection process—a total of 1,838 entries (1,532 in calligraphy and 306 in visual arts) were selected for awards.

The exhibition will feature esteemed awards such as The King’s Foundation Award, the Prime Minister’s Award, the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award, and provincial governor’s awards, thereby establishing a high standard for recognition. This initiative plays a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of artists and fostering globally conscious citizens.
