Nationally Recognized Truth Initiative Supports Ohio's Cannabis Education with Behavior-Change Insights
Truth Initiative Strengthens Cannabis Education in Ohio
In a powerful move to combat rising cannabis use, the Truth Initiative has teamed up with the OneOhio Recovery Foundation. This partnership aims to provide strategic guidance and behavior-change expertise to enhance cannabis education and prevention campaigns across Ohio.
A Focus on Evidence-Based Strategies
The Truth Initiative, a national nonprofit recognized for its effective public health education campaigns, brings over two decades of expertise in fostering behavior change. Kathy Crosby, CEO and President of Truth Initiative, expressed pride in their collaboration with OneOhio, emphasizing their commitment to utilizing science and empirically grounded research to inform public education strategies.
By employing advisory services and conducting extensive formative and message testing research, the Truth Initiative is set to bolster OneOhio's efforts to prevent cannabis use among vulnerable groups, including youth, pregnant individuals, and workplace employees. This approach aims to ensure that outreach resonates with targeted demographics, enhancing the potential for impactful change.
The Need for Urgent Public Education
Recent polling data revealed concerning trends regarding cannabis use in Ohio. Since legalization, the number of residents admitting to using cannabis has surged from 35% to an alarming 41%, with nearly half of those users consuming cannabis daily. Alarmingly, the perception of risks associated with cannabis has not kept pace. Many Ohioans underestimate the potential health impacts, which is particularly concerning for teenagers and expectant mothers.
Alisha Nelson, Executive Director of the OneOhio Recovery Foundation, underscored the critical need for clear and credible public education in response to this changing landscape.
