Alliance for Innovation and Infrastructure Welcomes New Leadership
The Alliance for Innovation and Infrastructure (Aii) has recently announced the addition of two accomplished individuals to its Board of Directors, marking a significant step towards reinforcing its mission of enhancing the nation’s infrastructure systems. Sean Joyce and retired Major General Jami Shawley have been appointed to bring their extensive experience and insights into the dynamic challenges and policies surrounding infrastructure innovation.
Profiles of the New Board Members
Sean Joyce
Sean Joyce, the founder of Atlas Crossing, a public affairs firm operating from Capitol Hill, has spent the last 16 years helping various organizations, ranging from emerging startups to Fortune 50 entities, navigate complex business and regulatory landscapes. Joyce's previous experience includes significant roles on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, where he has honed his skills in strategic policy creation and communication. His focus has always been on integrating effective political engagement into policy campaigns, which is invaluable to Aii's future endeavors.
Major General Jami Shawley
Retired Major General Jami Shawley brings with her a rich 33-year military career with the United States Army, where she carved out a path as one of the first women to pilot armed helicopters. A West Point graduate, she has commanded various units both domestically and internationally, including pivotal operations in Africa and the Pacific. Her strategic roles at the White House National Security Council have equipped her with a deep understanding of defense policies and national security issues, all of which align well with Aii’s objectives.
A Strengthened Focus on Problem Solving
Brigham McCown, Aii's Chairman, emphasizes that these appointments are pivotal as they align with Aii's commitment to deliver rigorous analysis rather than engaging in partisan advocacy. With a vision focused on addressing real-world problems, Aii aims to leverage Joyce and Shawley’s extensive backgrounds to provide objective analysis and comparative assessments, thereby facilitating improved decision-making for policymakers.
McCown stated, "Our value lies in rigorous analysis, framing policy questions, and helping decision-makers evaluate tradeoffs. We do not engage in partisan disputes. Joyce and MG Shawley bring the judgment and experience needed to ensure Aii continues to engage constructively, credibly, and independently in shaping the national infrastructure conversation."
