Alpha Lumen Institute and CloudWalk Celebrate Brazil’s Young Innovators in the 2025 Tech Olympiad
Celebrating Innovation: Brazil's 2025 Technology Olympiad
On July 22, 2025, Brazil hosted a spectacular event, the 2025 Brazilian Technology Olympiad (OBT), organized by the Alpha Lumen Institute with collaborative support from MIT Brazil and sponsorship by CloudWalk, a prominent fintech firm. This Olympiad recognized outstanding student teams for their innovative tech-based solutions aimed at addressing real-world social challenges.
Held in Jacareí, São Paulo, this year’s event brought together more than 540 students from both public and private schools spanning 16 Brazilian states. It wasn’t just a competition; it was a week-long celebration of innovation, collaboration, and technical prowess. Throughout the Advanced School of Technology Week (Semana EAT), attendees engaged in over 60 workshops covering diverse topics such as artificial intelligence and aerospace engineering.
Winning Innovations
The competition culminated in an awards ceremony that spotlighted four remarkable teams who clinched victory with their groundbreaking projects:
1. EcoRadar: Developed by students at Professor Sebastião Vasconcelos Sobrinho public school in Tianguá, Ceará, this app leverages NASA satellite data to detect wildfires in real-time, alerting users to environmental hazards.
2. Sunflower: From the Engenheiro Lauro Diniz public school in Recife, Pernambuco, this app focuses on inclusivity for children with autism and educates families and communities on awareness and support.
3. Aritméticos do Café: Created by students at Escola Interativa in Guaxupé, Minas Gerais, this platform aims to improve access to prenatal care in underprivileged areas, while combating misinformation regarding reproductive health.
4. π=3: Hailing from Colégio Motiva LTDA in Campina Grande, Paraíba, this app connects users with recycling and electronic waste collection points, facilitating better waste management and supporting local waste pickers.
As a reward for their creativity and hard work, these winning teams will have the unique opportunity to visit MIT in the U.S., participating in an immersive experience that promotes further innovation.
Empowering Future Innovators
Throughout the week, CloudWalk played a pivotal role by conducting sessions focused on low-code platforms and AI tools, inspiring students to develop smart systems that can address pressing issues. “These students are turning technology into a force for good,” remarked Nuricel Aguilera, founder of the Alpha Lumen Institute. “Educational transformation is key. It’s how we identify unseen talent throughout Brazil and guide them to seize the abundant opportunities that exist in the world.”
Adding to the excitement, Gabriel Bernal, CloudWalk's Chief Experience Officer, highlighted the importance of supporting such initiatives: “Artificial intelligence is a game-changer for this generation. By investing in the OBT, we are fostering the talent that will truly make a difference, pushing the limits of access and innovation.”
Conclusion
The 2025 Brazilian Technology Olympiad showcased the incredible potential of young minds capable of harnessing technology to effect positive change in society. The combined efforts of the Alpha Lumen Institute, MIT Brazil, and CloudWalk not only celebrate achievements but pave the way for future innovations within the Brazilian landscape. With the foundations of technology being laid by today’s youth, the future looks promising for Brazil and beyond.
