Seminar Highlights
The seminar will feature two main presentations:
1. Efforts Towards Universal Smart Water Meter Implementation in Tokyo
Presented by: Keitaro Mukamoto, Planning and Coordination Division, Tokyo Water Bureau
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
With the Tokyo Water Bureau navigating challenges such as population decline and rising costs, the implementation of smart water meters is crucial. Approximately
130,000 smart meters have been installed, leading to enhanced operational efficiency and improved leakage detection. In March of 2025, the Bureau will unveil its
"Smart Water Meter Implementation Policy," setting ambitious targets to integrate an additional
1 million meters over the next four years. During this session, attendees will learn about the objectives and successes achieved thus far, as well as future directions for further implementation.
The key discussion points will include:
1. Background of smart meter adoption
2. Challenges and measures in implementation
3. Benefits realized from smart meters
4. Future vision for smart water meters
5. Q&A session and networking
2. Utilization Cases of Smart Water Meters in Kosei City
Presented by: Tomoya Kurata, Kosei City Water and Sewer Division
Time: 2:10 PM - 3:10 PM
The integration of
IoT technologies in water management has brought forward significant advancements. Kosei City has been a pioneer in adopting smart water meters not just locally, but also setting an example for municipalities across Japan. The presentation will outline the effective deployment of these meters, focusing on improving accuracy and efficiency in readings while exploring newly available data utilization methods.
Key highlights include:
1. Current environment surrounding water services
2. Background and evolution of smart meter use
3. Overview of automated reading methods
4. Utilization of data from smart meters
5. Future challenges and potential solutions
6. Q&A session and networking opportunity
