Exciting Kids Kart School Program Kicks Off for Young Motorsports Enthusiasts

Kids Kart School Program



Starting on August 15, 2026, the Kids Kart School Program is designed for children aged 7 to 10, offering an exciting introduction to the world of motorsports. Organized by the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF), this program will run over five sessions throughout the year, where each participant can choose one date to join. The curriculum includes fundamental kart operations, driving etiquette, safety lessons, and practical driving experience on a real circuit.

Purpose of the Program


This initiative aims not only to spark children's interest in motorsports but also to cultivate a sense of traffic safety awareness through engaging karting experiences. The JAF is committed to integrating motorsports into educational content, ensuring that children learn important rules and safety practices while having fun. By providing these opportunities, the program plays a vital role in nurturing future competitors and promoting motorsports among the next generation.

Program Details


Participants will dive into essential karting fundamentals such as maneuvering techniques, safety protocols, and driving rules, culminating in actual practice runs. Upon completion, participants will have the opportunity to apply for the "Kart Junior Domestic B License," a prerequisite for entering JAF-sanctioned karting competitions (with an additional application fee). Furthermore, outstanding performers from the experienced sessions will be eligible to compete in a special race scheduled for November 23, 2026, showcasing their talents.

Dates of Participation


Participants can select one of the following sessions:
1. August 15, 2026 (Saturday) from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM
2. September 5, 2026 (Saturday) from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM
3. September 26, 2026 (Saturday) from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM
4. October 10, 2026 (Saturday) from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM
5. November 21, 2026 (Saturday) from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Location


This exciting program will be held at the Tokyo Bay City Circuit in Koto City, Tokyo (Aoimi 1-3-12).

Participation Fee


The cost to participate is 10,000 yen, which includes insurance. Please note that an additional 1,500 yen is required for the Kart Junior Domestic B License application.

Application Process


Interested participants should register through the official site: JAF Kids Kart School Registration.

Class Structure


The program offers two classes:
  • - Beginner Class (limited to 10 spots): Aimed at those with no prior karting experience.
  • - Experienced Class (limited to 10 spots): For participants who have prior experience with Sodi or Birel engine junior karts.

Application Requirements


To register, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • - Born between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2018.
  • - No possession of the Kart Junior Domestic B License.
  • - Parent or legal guardian must be a JAF individual or family member.
  • - Height must be at least 105 cm.
  • - Agreement to sign a waiver on the event day.
  • - Parent or guardian must accompany the participant on the day of the event.

The registration deadline for all five sessions is July 31, 2026. Following the deadline, applicants who meet the criteria will be selected via a lottery based on their karting experience.

Instructors


  • - Beginner Class: Keitaro Matsumura (2026 regular instructor for Tokyo Bay Kids Driving Experience).
  • - Experienced Class: Sōtarō Mimura (2025 All Japan Kart Championship EV Division Champion).

Dress Code for the Day


Participants are advised to wear long sleeves, long pants, and sports shoes. Helmets will be provided for rent.

Vehicles Used


  • - Beginner Class: Kids EV Kart, which can reach a maximum speed of 15 km/h with remote speed control by staff.
  • - Experienced Class: Junior Rental Karts designed for easy handling and safety during crashes.

This program is hosted by the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) and TOMS Co., Ltd.
