As we dive into 2025, a significant survey conducted by Nurx— a prominent player in women's healthcare— shines a light on the pressing anxieties that women are facing regarding their reproductive rights. With changing political climates and evolving healthcare scenarios, the data indicates that more than half of the women surveyed (52%) are deeply concerned about the prospect of a national abortion ban. The implications of such a ban resonate beyond just abortion, manifesting fears about contraceptive access (48%), potential alterations in insurance coverage for contraception (43%), and additional state-level restrictions on abortion (43%).

“Our survey highlights the increasing uncertainty women feel about their reproductive rights,” said Rajani Rao, Chief Business Officer at Nurx. This sentiment reflects a broader anxiety that underlines women’s demands for reproductive autonomy and accessible healthcare.

Interestingly, alongside these troubling findings, the survey reveals an emerging lack of trust in online information sources. Approximately 35% of women voiced concerns about their ability to find credible and trustworthy information pertaining to their reproductive and sexual health needs. This lack of faith in online advice further complicates the pre-existing issues surrounding access to care.

In a silver lining to this scenario, the survey suggests that women are actively seeking out reliable healthcare options. Many are turning to established providers, reputable websites, and telehealth services like Nurx for dependable information and care solutions. Telehealth's inherent convenience aligns perfectly with the growing preference for discreet and transparent healthcare options, establishing it as an essential pillar of modern medical care.

“As reproductive health becomes increasingly politicized, it’s vital for women to access trusted, evidence-based information,” Rao emphasized, underscoring the need for educational initiatives within the healthcare system. This indicates that organizations can play a significant role in improving health outcomes by promoting awareness and accurate information dissemination.

The findings also reflect anxiety about traditional in-person care, with around 40% of the surveyed individuals expressing reservations about accessing necessary reproductive and sexual health services in-person. In response to this unease, the popularity of telehealth is expected to continue its rise. Nearly half of the respondents (48%) indicated their intention to utilize telehealth for various reproductive services over the next year. The predominant service anticipated to be sought through telehealth is birth control (79%), followed by mental health support (37%) and emergency contraception (30%). Additional services such as STI testing (17%) and medication abortion (15%) are also on the list of needs among women turning to telehealth platforms.

“Telehealth allows women to obtain crucial reproductive care without having to confront geographical or logistical hurdles,” Rao stated, evidencing how this mode of care delivery can prove invaluable. The demographic split showed that 49% of those surveyed had a household income below $50,000, while more than one-third (34%) identified as Black, Indigenous, or of other minority backgrounds.
