SANY Expands Green Energy Initiatives in Africa with Innovative Solar Projects

In a notable advancement for green energy in Africa, SANY has commenced the construction of a cutting-edge 10 MW photovoltaic power plant in Zimbabwe. This significant initiative is not only SANY's first solar project in Zimbabwe but also stands as the first of its kind in Africa to employ an innovative business model known as "EP+F". This model integrates engineering, procurement, and financing into a singular customized solution aimed at addressing the financial needs of local clients.

The project utilizes high-efficiency 710 photovoltaic modules developed by SANY, paired with advanced inverters and durable mounting structures. With a total installed capacity of 10 MW expected to be connected to the power grid by the end of 2025, the plant is projected to generate an impressive 18 million kWh annually. This substantial energy output will greatly alleviate Zimbabwe's electricity shortages, ensure reliable power supply to local industries, sustain livelihoods, and facilitate a transition towards a lower carbon-emission energy landscape in the region.

As the inaugural "EP+F" commercial model from SANY Silicon Energy, this project lays the groundwork for future collaborations in renewable energy on an international level. By significantly reducing financial burdens for clients, this model enhances the accessibility and feasibility of adopting clean energy solutions in emerging markets. The client has expressed strong confidence in future collaborations with SANY across diverse areas, including microgrids, electric trucks, and EV charging infrastructures.

Additional Context on SANY's African Ventures

SANY's commitment to solar initiatives in Africa is not new. In late 2024, SANY's Mining Microgrid Power project successfully connected to the grid in Zambia after a rapid four-month construction period. This project represents Africa's first and largest "solar + storage + diesel" integrated unit. The initial phase of this project now yields approximately 16 million kWh of electricity each year, resulting in over 20 million RMB in savings on electricity costs for clients, equating to nearly 30% of their total production expenditures. Following this success, SANY has signed three more microgrid projects in Zambia, further contributing to Africa's energy transition.

After two decades of partnership with Africa, SANY's cooperation has evolved beyond mere equipment trading into a more sustainable collaborative effort. At present, SANY boasts 15 subsidiaries and branches across more than 30 countries, supported by 13 trusted dealers. Equipment from SANY sees utilization in over 50 nations and regions, showcasing the brand's extensive reach.

Moreover, SANY is dedicated to promoting local development and ensuring job opportunities for communities; over 50% of its workforce in Africa is locally recruited, translating to more than 5,000 jobs created. Moving forward, SANY aims to leverage its technological prowess and management capabilities to establish a robust local supply chain, thereby supporting the growth of green energy and the economy across Africa.
