On opening day, crowds formed outside even before the official opening, highlighting the significant reputation Vandaka has among plant enthusiasts. The store features an astonishing wall display filled with various species of staghorn ferns (Platycerium), showcasing their unique and attractive forms. What is Staghorn Fern?

Staghorn ferns, also known as Platycerium, have become increasingly popular among style-conscious plant lovers due to their distinct shape and high aesthetic value. In their native habitat, these ferns attach themselves to tree trunks and rocks, enabling them to be displayed in a variety of formats beyond standard potting, such as wall-mounted arrangements or pieces on wooden boards. This versatility in display is a significant reason for their popularity, transforming spaces into living art.

A Visioner in Staghorn Fern Culture: Vandaka Plants

Vandaka Plants was founded over 20 years ago when Koji Takahashi, the owner, became captivated by the beauty of staghorn ferns. He embarked on a journey travelling around the world to select the best specimens. Their first shop, serving as Japan’s inaugural staghorn fern specialty store, opened in Kyoto in 2020, leading to the establishment of Vandaka Plants GALLERY TOKYO in 2022 in Nihonbashi Bakurocho. For three and a half years, it has been revered as a 'sanctuary' for plant enthusiasts.

Currently, while focusing on domestic cultivation, Vandaka Plants is also on a quest to discover wild staghorn ferns in their natural habitats. This adventurous pursuit is documented and shared on their YouTube channel, providing insights into their adventures.

The newly opened Ebisu store is strategically positioned to attract visitors with its accessible location and spacious interior. This allows Vandaka Plants to immerse even more people in their enchanting world of staghorn ferns and plant culture.
