MIXI Global Investments Announces Phase II of LVLZero Tokyo Accelerator
MIXI Global Investments (MGI), a subsidiary of MIXI based in Shibuya, Tokyo, has officially opened entries for the second round of its overseas-focused accelerator program, LVLZero Tokyo, starting from August 18, 2026. This program is specifically designed to support Japanese indie game developers looking to expand their reach into international markets.
About LVLZero Tokyo
The primary goal of LVLZero Tokyo is to assist emerging game developers from Japan in making a significant impact on the global gaming stage. By creating an environment conducive to the development of worldwide viable game content, the program aims to help participants gain vital exposure and insights in the international market.
The first phase of the program commenced registration in April 2026, receiving an overwhelming response with 78 applications and selecting five teams for support. These chosen teams have been actively mentored and are set to showcase their games at the prestigious gamescom event in Cologne, Germany, in August 2026. This upcoming phase, however, will see some changes aimed at enhancing accessibility.
Key Changes for Phase II
In a notable shift from the previous format, the second phase will transition to an online format, allowing developers from various regions to participate without geographical restrictions. The number of teams selected for support will remain at five, mirroring the first phase. Notably, the mentoring program will span 100 days, focusing on key areas such as localization, trailer production, improvement of pitches, and establishing connections with overseas publishers and investors.
Additionally, participants in this new phase will receive support to showcase their creations during gamescom asia, scheduled for October to November 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. Importantly, MGI will operate the accelerator with a neutral stance, not obtaining equity or publishing rights from participating developers, thereby respecting their autonomy.
Application Details
The application window for LVLZero Tokyo Phase II is open from August 18 to September 6, 2026, with the program running from October to December 2026. Interested developers can find detailed application guidelines and entry procedures on the
official website.
To assist potential applicants, an online briefing session will be held on August 22, 2026, to provide insights into the program, application process, and selection criteria. This session will also allow for a question-and-answer segment with interested participants.
Collaboration with Tokyo Game Dungeon
A significant addition to this phase is the participation of Tokyo Game Dungeon as an operating partner. Known for showcasing indie games developed by individuals and small teams, this organization fosters connections within the domestic indie game community, offering numerous opportunities for developers to present their work. This partnership aims to enhance communication among participants and facilitate a more supportive environment for aspiring developers.
Furthermore, Active Gaming Media will remain a knowledge partner, building on its expertise from the first phase to assist with localization and overseas market outreach for indie games.
Insights from MGI’s Leadership
Tomo Haru Urambe, Director of Investment at MIXI Global Investments, emphasized that LVLZero Tokyo was created to facilitate the ventures of startups and developers aiming for international growth in the gaming sector. Leveraging experiences from the first phase, the initiative aims to expand its reach nationwide and bolster support for participants aspiring to enter overseas markets.
