Hoosiers Corporation Celebrates 2025 Good Design Award Wins
Hoosiers Corporation, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has proudly announced that its two projects, Duo Hills Fushimi and Mid Tower Iwaki, have been awarded the prestigious Good Design Award for 2025 by the Japan Design Promotion Association. This dual recognition underscores Hoosiers’ commitment to innovation and quality in urban living.
Duo Hills Fushimi: Innovative Urban Living
Located a mere seven minutes from Fushimi Station in Nagoya, Duo Hills Fushimi is designed as a modern shared residential space that offers a distinctive living experience. Each floor contains two residences, featuring a spacious private porch of approximately 20 square meters with a depth of 4 meters. This layout not only provides ample outdoor space but is also easily accessible through an elevator system that allows entry to each unit exclusively. Consequently, this design fosters a lifestyle where residents can enjoy their personal area to the fullest.
The project's private porches have been specifically designed to be accessible from both the entrance and living spaces, encouraging residents to embrace various activities in their unique surroundings. Evaluators recognized the innovative planning around vertical circulation, which results in enhanced natural light and outdoor access. The private porch also serves as a semi-outdoor space that promotes diverse uses. The thoughtful integration of hobby and workspaces contributes to a new architectural model of urban housing.
Mid Tower Iwaki: Seamless Community Spaces
In the city of Iwaki, the Mid Tower Iwaki project stands out due to its seamless integration with the urban landscape, particularly along the Namiki Street redevelopment initiative. The design of this project promotes mobility, relaxation, and community interaction through the establishment of the Namiki Terrace, an integrated public space connecting the building site and the national road sidewalk. The aim is to create a communal hub where city dwellers can comfortably walk, relax, and engage with one another.
Judges applauded the external design, which relates harmoniously to its internal spaces, exemplifying how residential activities can be expanded outdoors. Unlike many buildings where exterior designs are merely ornamental, the collaboration between Hoosiers and public/private sectors has produced a welcoming environment. The inclusion of cafes and community areas near the entrance enriches the connection with the neighborhood, transforming pedestrian spaces and boosting walkability across the area. This ongoing collaboration between public and private entities is poised to yield long-lasting benefits in urban community building.
