Cypress Grove's Award-Winning Cheese Shines in Multiple International Competitions

Cypress Grove's Award-Winning Cheese Shines

Cypress Grove, a renowned cheese producer based in Arcata, California, has had a remarkable year, earning top accolades at three esteemed cheese competitions. The American Cheese Society (ACS) Judging Competition, the International Cheese Dairy Awards (ICDA), and the World Championship Cheese Contest® have recognized their exceptional cheeses, solidifying Cypress Grove's reputation as a leader in artisanal cheese production.

A Year of Recognition

This year, Cypress Grove's flagship cheese, Humboldt Fog®, clinched the Gold Medal in the American Original – Made from Goat's Milk category at the ACS awards. More impressively, it also earned a spot in the Top 10 Cheeses during the ACS Best of Show competition, where over 1,600 entries were evaluated across an impressive 123 categories. Such recognition reflects the dedication and craftsmanship that goes into producing every bite of their artisan cheeses.

In addition to the accolades garnered by Humboldt Fog®, Cypress Grove's Truffle Tremor® also stood out, earning a Silver Medal in the Soft Ripened with Added Flavor category, showcasing the exciting variety in their cheese lineup.

Celebrated at the International Cheese Dairy Awards

Cypress Grove's excellence continued at the ICDA, one of the longest-running and most prestigious dairy awards programs in the world. With entries exceeding 4,500 from more than 20 countries, the competition is fierce. Among their wins at the ICDA this year were:
  • - Gold and Double Silver for Meyer Lemon Honey
  • - Gold for PsycheDillic®
  • - Silver for both Humboldt Fog® and Sgt. Pepper®
  • - Bronze for Piment d'Ville

Pamela Dressler, Cypress Grove’s President and Managing Director, expressed her gratitude saying, "We are incredibly grateful to see our cheeses recognized alongside so many outstanding makers from around the world. These awards mean not only recognition but also reflect the dedication of our entire team—from our creamery and quality teams to the farmers, partners, and goats that make our work possible day in and day out."

Global Recognition at the World Championship Cheese Contest®

Cypress Grove's achievements didn’t stop there. Earlier this year, the company also found success at the World Championship Cheese Contest®, one of the highest technical cheese competitions globally, held biennially since 1957 in Madison, Wisconsin. This prestigious contest attracted more than 3,000 entries from cheesemakers worldwide.
Highlights from their achievements at the championship included:
  • - Midnight Moon®, recognized as one of the Top 20 Finalists and awarded a Gold Medal in Hard Goat's Milk Cheeses.
  • - Ms. Natural®, which received a Silver Medal in Soft Goat's Milk Cheeses.

These accomplishments celebrate over four decades of Cypress Grove's innovation and craftsmanship in cheesemaking. Although awards are not the primary goal for Cypress Grove, they serve as vital validation of the commitment everyone makes to bring high-quality cheese to tables across the nation.
