Company Initiatives for Employee Health in 2024
1. Implementation of Walking Rally
As part of a population-based approach, Morishita Jintan has been organizing a company-wide "Walking Rally" every year. This initiative, which celebrates its 16th year in 2024, encourages employees to adopt healthier habits by gradually extending the duration of the event. In 2024, for the first time, the rally will be held for six months, from October to March. Additionally, activities like the "Sugi-Gobee Satoyama Walking & Food Education Tour" are conducted to promote participation by offering nature-based experiences.
2. Health Fair Activities
The company has also initiated health fairs aimed at addressing health issues at the workplace, with the first fair organized at the Shiga plant in its fourth year running. In collaboration with group company MJ Shiga, activities such as walking age assessments by health instructors are conducted. At the Tokyo office, a second health fair is scheduled for March, featuring various health learning opportunities, integrating nutrition and exercise aspects.
3. Nutritional Counseling Services
To make nutritional counseling more accessible, a specific program has been developed that encourages employees to engage with nutritionists. This initiative not only targets traditional participants but expands to include individuals under 40 and those transitioning from medication. The 2024 program will introduce follow-up information based on health checkup results to provide clearer risk assessments.
4. Nutritional Education for New Employees
To enhance health literacy among employees, a nutritional education program for new hires has been introduced since 2021. This program combines seminars with practical cooking classes to teach foundational skills in food preservation and safe cooking practices. Enjoyable walking tours that explore historical landmarks will complement educational objectives.
5. Employee Experience Surveys
To create a more engaging workplace environment, a comprehensive employee engagement and presenteeism survey was carried out in the fiscal year 2023. Findings indicated specific challenges among younger employees and women regarding engagement, as well as presenteeism issues among men. In 2024, further investigations will help identify necessary measures to improve workplace well-being.
Through these initiatives, Morishita Jintan underscores its commitment not just to the health of its employees but also to the workplace culture, setting a standard as a model organization in Japan's health management landscape. The company's corporate philosophy, aimed at serving society through improved health and well-being, drives its efforts to enhance both employee satisfaction and productivity.
