Kia PBV Official Dealer Agreement and Launch of Kia PV5 in Japan

Exciting Announcement: Kia PV5 Electric Vehicle Launch in Japan

In an important development for the automotive industry, Toy Factory Co., Ltd., a leading manufacturer of camping cars in Japan, has signed a dealer agreement with Kia PBV Japan Co., Ltd. This partnership marks the arrival of the cutting-edge electric vehicle, the Kia PV5, to the Japanese market.

Toy Factory, headquartered in Kani City, Gifu, has made significant strides in the camping car market, achieving top production numbers with the Hiace-based campers and becoming the number one seller of Fiat Ducato-based campers in the Asia-Pacific region. With this new agreement, Toy Factory is poised to expand its innovative approach to mobility by incorporating electric vehicles into its lineup.

Introduction of the Kia PV5

The Kia PV5 is a dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) designed using Kia's state-of-the-art technology. This vehicle allows for diverse configurations, providing a spacious flat interior while accommodating a range of customizations and extensions based on user needs. Unlike conventional vehicles designed with fixed specifications, the PV5 is built to adapt to varying requirements, establishing itself as multipurpose electric mobility.

Set to begin sales by July 2026, the Kia PV5 will be available in two variations: the PV5 Passenger, accommodating up to five individuals, and the PV5 Cargo, optimized for logistics purposes.

Key Features of the Kia PV5

  • - PV5 Passenger: The passenger version offers ample space for five adults, designed for comfort with easy entry and exit. It is perfect for family outings, tours, and transportation services, making it highly versatile in its applications.
  • - PV5 Cargo: Geared towards commercial use, the Cargo model has a low floor design that facilitates easy loading and unloading of goods. Additionally, its bi-fold door structure accommodates oversized loads, making it ideal for urban delivery and logistics operations.

Noteworthy is the Cargo model's impressive range, achieving a Guinness World Record for an electric light commercial vehicle with a single-charge driving distance of 693.38 km under specific testing conditions.

Sales and Exhibit Strategy

The dealership will operate out of Toy Factory Tokyo, located within the Minami-Machida Granberry Park, rebranded as "Kia PBV Tōmei Yokohama." Vehicle displays are expected to begin by the end of July 2026, and through its established network, Toy Factory aims to promote the Kia PV5 nationwide.

Future Plans

Toy Factory is also looking into expanding its offerings through rental services, allowing both businesses and individuals to experience this EV mobility firsthand. Furthermore, the company aspires to integrate pet-friendly features and outdoor camping options, presenting new lifestyle possibilities that elevate user experiences beyond just vehicle sales.

As Toy Factory steps into this new phase of electric mobility, CEO Akifumi Fujii remarks, "Becoming the official dealer for the innovative Kia PBV platform is a significant challenge for us and a first step into a new era. We aim to make EV-based camping mobility services a standard offering, providing exceptional value to our customers."

An upcoming exhibition at the Tokyo Camping Car Show 2026 is also planned, where Toy Factory will showcase vehicles based on the PV5. With its expertise in the camping car industry, Toy Factory hopes to unveil exciting proposals related to EV and PBV platforms, showcasing how it intends to redefine mobility.

In conclusion, the collaboration between Kia PBV Japan and Toy Factory signifies a transformational moment in Japan's automotive landscape as electric vehicles become increasingly relevant. Not only does this partnership embrace current trends in sustainable transport, but it also aims to enhance the mobility experience for everyday users throughout Japan.
