Introducing the Domestic Wood Model of the Free Address Desk "minimo lots"
Plas Inc., led by President Tadahisa Imaizumi and based in Minato, Tokyo, is set to launch a new domestic wood model of its compact and simple-designed free address desk "minimo lots" on January 1, 2026. This initiative marks the beginning of a significant project to incorporate domestic wood materials into existing office furniture.
Committing to a Sustainable Future with MOKURAL
The introduction of the "minimo lots" domestic wood model is a key part of Plas's ongoing effort to utilize wood responsibly. The company launched the "MOKURAL" project in 2022, aimed at promoting the use of domestic timber to contribute to forest health and achieve carbon neutrality. This project not only seeks to energize both people and the planet but also takes concrete steps toward environmental sustainability.
Previously, the company has successfully introduced a wood-metal hybrid series known as the "Vicenda Series" and a wood furniture line called "MARU." With the launch of "minimo lots," they aim to widen the reach of domestically-sourced materials within the office furniture segment.
A Design That Balances Style and Functionality
The "minimo lots" desk retains its simple, natural design while integrating functionality. It features a square tabletop made from domestic cedar for enhanced strength and durability, covered with a melamine resin finish. This allows for versatility across different office environments while contributing positively to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
Available in various configurations, including single-sided and double-sided options in both low and high types, the pricing for the desk ranges from 142,340 yen for the low single-sided model to 459,140 yen for the high double-sided variant. Importantly, a portion of the sales proceeds will be donated to the "Green Fund" managed by the Japan Greenery Promotion Organization, supporting forest conservation efforts.
Key Features of the New Desk
- - Promotion of Domestic Materials: As part of the MOKURAL project, Plas plans to progressively incorporate domestic wood into 16 office furniture categories, starting with "minimo lots."
- - Sustainability Meets Practicality: Using domestic cedar for the core material contributes to forest circulation under the MOKURAL initiative. Meanwhile, the melamine surface enhances strength and maintenance ease while showcasing the beauty of natural wood.

- - Added Functional Features: The desk is equipped with useful features like removable resin wiring covers, 40mm-wide slits for accessory attachment, and hooks for bags or backpacks, making it an efficient addition to any workspace.
- - Customization Options Available: Users can further enhance their desks with specialized accessories such as desktop panels, monitor arms, and power strips, allowing for personalized workspace solutions.
What is MOKURAL?
Launched in January 2022 as a commitment to carbon neutrality, the MOKURAL project focuses on sustainably managing domestic softwoods that have passed their young growth phase, ensuring efficient use and product development. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the CO2 emissions associated with importing wood from abroad while supporting a balanced ecosystem.
With the tagline "Furnishing Uniqueness - Adding Value to Individual Workstyles," Plas seeks to enhance the relationships between space, objects, and people. Their goal is to craft a workspace that caters to each individual's comfort and allows unique talents to shine.
