SeRo Systems Expands Its Airport Surface Surveillance Offer with A-SMGCS Solutions

SeRo Systems, a pioneer in air traffic security solutions, recently announced an exciting enhancement to its service portfolio with the introduction of the MLX1090 system. This cutting-edge, ground-based multilateration (MLAT) technology is designed to seamlessly integrate into Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control Systems (A-SMGCS), offering comprehensive airport surface monitoring. The MLX1090 is meticulously engineered to conform to EUROCAE standards ED-117A and ED-129B, focusing on continuous surveillance and tracking to enhance operational awareness, and ensuring safe separation between aircraft and ground vehicles in busy airport zones.

This innovative system leverages the reliable GRX receiver technology from SeRo alongside the advanced detection software, SecureTrack, to combine high-precision multilateration capabilities with Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B) data into a unified operational picture. Consequently, A-SMGCS can consistently monitor the positions of aircraft and ground vehicles, enabling airport personnel and controllers to receive real-time security alerts and achieve better visibility across both the airport and surrounding terminal airspace.

The MLX1090 is hosted on a dedicated on-site server, which allows it to operate independently from any external cloud services, boosting the system's reliability. Supported by SeRo's maintenance and support services, this solution is positioned as a secure and cost-effective option for regional airports, the broader aviation industry, and commercial airport facilities.

Markus Fuchs, the Chief Technical Officer at SeRo Systems, emphasized the urgent need for increasing airport surface security amidst growing operational pressures and the need to monitor infrastructure costs. He stated, "The MLX1090 represents a natural evolution of the aerial surveillance technology we have honed over the past decade. By synergizing our GRX receivers with our real-time analytical capabilities, we’ve crafted a scalable, cost-efficient solution that can deliver enhanced surveillance at smaller airports."

Currently undergoing field trials at a regional airport in Germany, the MLX1090 amplifies SeRo’s existing imaging technologies for airspace monitoring, radio frequency control, and GNSS interference detection, already trusted by Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), regulators, and aviation authorities across Europe and the United States. SeRo Systems, headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, combines its technology expertise with engineering proficiency to provide effective navigation and surveillance aviation services, thereby supporting regulatory and spectral compliance. As a certified organization under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001:2022, SeRo underscores its commitment to quality management and information security measures.
