NOK Group Implements Off-Site PPA for Sustainable Energy in Shizuoka

Sustainable Future: NOK Group's Off-Site PPA Initiative



NOK Corporation, headquartered in Minato City, Tokyo, has recently taken a significant step towards sustainable energy by entering into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Chubu Electric Mirai. This initiative marks the NOK Group's first introduction of an off-site PPA, aimed at significantly reducing the environmental impact while supporting local agriculture in Shizuoka Prefecture.

Scheduled to commence on March 26, 2026, this collaboration will enable the transmission of renewable energy generated from an agricultural solar power facility in Kakegawa City to NOK’s Shizuoka plant located in Makinohara City. It's estimated that this will account for approximately 5% of the plant's annual energy consumption, leading to a substantial environmental benefit.

The agricultural solar power facility embraces a unique approach by incorporating agricultural practices beneath the solar panels. In this model, local farmers will cultivate lemons, harmonizing energy production with agricultural sustainability.
