Zoomlion Strengthens Its European Localization Strategy with First German-Made Crane

Zoomlion Strengthens Its European Localization Strategy

Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., commonly known as Zoomlion, recently announced a significant milestone in their quest for European localization. The company successfully completed the implementation and delivery of its first knuckle boom crane, manufactured at its subsidiary plant in Wilbert, Germany. This delivery marks a notable advance in Zoomlion’s strategy to deepen its operational footprint in Europe and enhance its market presence across the region.

The newly delivered crane, known as the ZLK7600V803, is a product born from the fusion of Zoomlion’s advanced technology and local manufacturing capabilities. Built on a locally-sourced Scania chassis, this model adheres to CE certification and complies with European road transport regulations. It's specifically designed to withstand the rigorous operational demands characteristic of the European market, offering excellent lifting performance, high reliability, and cost effectiveness. Its versatility ensures it can handle a myriad of material handling and lifting tasks throughout the continent.

The Slovak client receiving this crane expressed palpable enthusiasm. They highlighted that this crane symbolizes three decades of successful commercial collaboration between Slovakia and China. The client emphasized that expanding their crane fleet with Zoomlion not only serves as a practical addition but signals a significant landmark in their longstanding partnership.

Originally a specialized tower crane manufacturer, the Wilbert factory, acquired by Zoomlion in 2018, has transformed into a versatile industrial base. It now encompasses a wide range of products, including tower cranes, concrete machinery, and mobile cranes. This strategic evolution aligns perfectly with Zoomlion's ambition to develop a comprehensive European production network. Earlier this year, the company initiated the second phase of its German facility located in Waldlaubersheim and launched a new aerial work platform plant in Hungary. Such projects aim to establish an integrated hub for showcasing, selling, manufacturing, and servicing products specifically for the European market, thereby boosting supply chain efficiency and responsiveness to local demands.

The investments made by Zoomlion in Germany have garnered recognition from regional leaders. At the groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of the factory, Dr. Joe Weingarten, a member of the German Bundestag, characterized this project as a testament to the strengthening economic ties between China and Germany. He praised the region’s favorable infrastructure and skilled workforce, which reinforce the potential for mutual success.

With 13 research and development bases and manufacturing operations in over 170 countries and regions worldwide, Zoomlion is committed to marrying local production with global expertise. The company continues to expand its European product portfolio and enhance market responsiveness, further solidifying its position as a leader in smart equipment manufacturing.

In conclusion, Zoomlion's first delivery of a German-made knuckle boom crane is not just a transactional exchange; it embodies a broader vision of strategic localization and industrial cooperation. This initiative paves the way for future growth, fostering deeper connections within the European construction and equipment sectors, and ultimately defining the future trajectory of Zoomlion as a global powerhouse in heavy machinery.
