Tackling Challenges in Aging Sewer Infrastructure
The degradation of sewer infrastructure presents a myriad of issues, particularly concerning the management of invisible gases such as hydrogen sulfide and ammonia, which can lead to unpleasant smells and pipeline corrosion. The primary goal of NOK’s new detection rubber is to offer a visual solution for monitoring these gases, thereby boosting inspection efficiency and enhancing safety in hazardous environments.

- - Ammonia and Hydrogen Sulfide Detection Rubber (New Development)
This specialized rubber undergoes a color change when exposed to ammonia or hydrogen sulfide, making it easy to visualize the presence of these gases. Specifically, it turns a deep blue when it encounters ammonia and black in the presence of hydrogen sulfide. The installation process is incredibly straightforward—there's no need for a power source or maintenance, just adhesive or placement suffices to indicate the gas type and quantity.
- - Recycled Rubber Coasters with Local Manhole Designs
These coasters utilize scrap rubber generated during the production process, showcasing NOK’s dedication to sustainable practices. Designed with local manhole graphics, these coasters can serve as municipal merchandise or promotional items, blending functionality with creativity.
- - Hydrogen Sulfide Detection Rubber
This rubber reacts visibly to hydrogen sulfide, changing color permanently upon contact, thus tracking gas emission history with ease. Like the ammonia detection rubber, it requires no power supply and is easily hung for convenience. It is particularly useful for preliminary surveys in environments where water exposure is a factor, making it ideal for extended investigations lasting from hours to weeks.
