Hikaru Gozu's Remarkable Victory at JOC Junior Olympics

On August 1, 2023, Hikaru Gozu, a talented member of the Dream Seeker Jr. Racing Team (DSRJ), achieved an impressive victory at the JOC Junior Olympics Cup and National Youth MTB Selection event held in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture. This triumph not only marks a significant milestone in Gozu's burgeoning career but also highlights the success of the initiatives by JPF, the company responsible for the DSRJ team.

The DSRJ team is comprised of graduates from the "Top Cyclist Academy," a program aimed at developing young athletes from elementary and middle school, which has been operational from 2021 to 2023. Targeting riders before they advance into the UCI’s junior category (ages 17-18), the team focuses on nurturing talent with an eye toward future competitions. Gozu's recent performance is a testament to the team's commitment and the effectiveness of the academy.

Gozu's Journey to Victory

In a competitive four-lap race covering a 3-kilometer circuit, Gozu faced challenges right from the start. Despite a minor setback, he quickly regained his footing and participated in the leading group up to the third lap. As the race progressed, he accelerated his pace, making strategic moves to widen the gap between himself and the following competitors. By the final lap, Gozu was certain of his victory and confidently crossed the finish line as the champion.

In his victory speech, Gozu expressed his excitement, stating, "It was an exhilarating experience! After some initial mistakes, I managed to catch up and lead the pack. I felt incredibly happy when I secured the win!" Gozu is now setting his sights on competing in the junior category next year, aspiring to win national and Asian championships to eventually make a mark on the world stage.
