Monarch Alternative Capital LP, a prominent investment firm managing approximately $16 billion in assets, has revealed significant leadership transitions aimed at sustaining its future growth and maintaining its investment excellence.

The firm has undergone an extensive succession planning process, with these changes reflecting the evolving roles and responsibilities of its leadership team. Co-Founder and Co-Portfolio Manager, Chris Santana, has been appointed Co-Chief Executive Officer effective immediately and is set to assume the sole CEO role on January 1, 2026. This leadership shift acknowledges his pivotal contributions to the firm since its inception. Additionally, he has been designated as Co-Chief Investment Officer, tasked with steering the company's investment strategy.

Michael Weinstock, who co-founded the firm, will transition from his role as Co-Portfolio Manager and CEO to serve as Executive Chairman effective December 31, 2025. While he steps into this new position, he will continue to play an integral role in the firm's investment activities, chairing various investment committees. Following his term as Executive Chairman, planned for completion in 2027, Weinstock intends to retire but will remain available to offer guidance to the firm's leadership.

Adam Sklar, currently Co-Head of Real Estate and Co-Portfolio Manager, is joining Santana as Co-Chief Investment Officer. This appointment, effective immediately, aims to invigorate Monarch’s investment team and cultivate the overall strategic direction of the firm’s diverse fund offerings.

Furthermore, Co-Founder Andrew Herenstein will transition to Vice Chairman, recognizing his enduring contributions to Monarch. He will continue to be actively involved in various firm operations. Stacey Maman, previously the Chief Strategy Officer and Global Head of Client Partnerships, is stepping into a newly established role as President. She will oversee investor partnerships and strategic initiatives crucial for business operations.

In an exciting development, Joe Citarrella, a distinguished senior investment professional, has been appointed as Head of Corporate Credit, effective immediately, and will become a member of the Investment Committee for the firm’s diversified funds.
