Skanska Begins Construction of Botanic Place in Cambridge
Skanska, a leading construction and development company, has officially commenced work on an exciting new project named
Botanic Place located in
Cambridge, United Kingdom. This commercial office development, in collaboration with Railpen, has secured an impressive contract valued at
£199 million (approximately
SEK 2.6 billion), which underscores the ambitious vision for this urban workspace.
This effort is part of a broader investment plan amounting to
£242 million, which is expected to redefine the work environment in Cambridge. The overall development comprises two buildings that together will offer about
31,000 square meters (around
333,000 square feet) of modern office space. Notably, the design includes the restoration of the historic
Flying Pig pub, reflecting a commitment to preserving local heritage alongside urban development.
One of the standout features of Botanic Place is its integration of terraces spanning a total of
3,700 square meters (equivalent to
40,000 square feet) across multiple levels. These outdoor spaces are designed to promote both private and communal gatherings, encouraging connectivity among occupants and fostering a vibrant workplace community.
Meeting High Standards
Aiming to lead by example, Botanic Place is set to meet stringent operational and environmental benchmarks, targeting three prestigious sustainability ratings:
BREEAM Outstanding,
WELL Platinum, and
WiredScore Platinum. These certifications reflect a dedication not only to creating functional office space but also to ensuring that it aligns with modern ecological practices and worker wellbeing.
Timeline for Completion
