BLUE SCHOOL in Suma: An Inclusive Event for Everyone
On November 23, 2025, Suma will be the host of a remarkable event aimed at creating a universal beach experience for all. Organized by the NPO Suma Universal Beach Project (Suma UBP), the
BLUE SCHOOL and the accompanying
Universal Beach Forum will take place at Suma Komagabay Park. This gathering will bring together various organizations and companies dedicated to creating a shared environment where people with and without disabilities can have fun together and learn from each other, reinforcing the values of inclusiveness and accessibility.
What is the BLUE SCHOOL?
The BLUE SCHOOL is an event where organizations and companies dedicated to establishing universal beach experiences converge to allow everyone—regardless of their abilities—to learn through shared activities and exchanges. It embodies the spirit of collaboration and openness that Suma UBP has worked toward since its inception.
A Brief History of the Universal Beach Forum 2025
Since 2017, Suma UBP has been committed to creating a beach environment that everyone can enjoy by promoting universal design principles. With the slogan "From Suma to the Nation," the organization has been working tirelessly to make universal beaches a common reality across Japan. Known initiatives like the "Traveling Universal Beach" have been launched nationwide, giving rise to various sibling projects focused on this cause. Today, more than twenty organizations are actively involved in building a sustainable community where universal design flourishes, and this event aims to gather those efforts in one place, sharing experiences, knowledge, and ideas to expand the concept of universal beaches.
