Experience the Cult Wine, The Prisoner, This Golden Week at Midtown Hibiya

Experience the Cult Wine, The Prisoner

As Golden Week approaches, enthusiasts are gearing up for a delightful wine-tasting experience. From April 26th to May 6th, 2025, Pieroth Japan is hosting an extraordinary event at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya where wine lovers can indulge in over 50 varieties of prestigious wines, spirits, and brandies—all available for free tasting. This event promises an exceptional experience centered around the cult wine, The Prisoner, which has captivated celebrities worldwide.

Originating from Napa Valley in the late 1990s, The Prisoner gained notoriety for its innovative blends and provocative label designs. Crafted from high-quality and rare California grape varieties, this red wine shattered traditional concepts and succeeded in turning heads in the wine community. Consequently, The Prisoner has earned a significant place in the spotlight, reestablishing the allure of Californian luxury blend wines on a global scale.

The brand's imagery derives inspiration from a sketch of prisoners created by the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya around 1810. This figure serves as a constant reminder to maintain freedom from self-satisfaction and the constraints of rules and traditions. Many Hollywood actors and Grammy-winning singers have showcased their enjoyment of The Prisoner on social media, contributing to its immense popularity.

At the heart of this remarkable wine is Chrissy Whittman, a dedicated winemaker who sources exceptional grapes from over 100 producers in Northern California. With more than 20 years of experience in winemaking, Whittman leads The Prisoner's production team and is celebrated for her innovative yet captivating wines. Her emphasis on grape maturity results in soft tannins and a rich mouthfeel, characteristics that have garnered acclaim, including the title of 'Best Female Winemaker' at the Sakura Awards in 2020.

Those attending the event will step into an atmosphere embodying The Prisoner's unique world, reminiscent of a chic American bar. Midtown Hibiya, renowned for its vibrant ambience, is the ultimate venue for wine enthusiasts, offering a blend of hotels, cinemas, restaurants, and shopping—all in one dynamic locale.

In addition to The Prisoner, guests can savor a diverse array of wines, spirits, and brandies at this complimentary tasting event. Wine consultants will be on hand to recommend selections based on individual preferences. The format allows attendees to sample various wines after registering at the entrance, and those who find a favorite can purchase it to take home. Special value wine sets will also be available.

Golden Week in 2025 presents an opportunity for those wishing to venture out and for those who prefer the comfort of home. Regardless, an invitation is extended to join the wine event at Midtown Hibiya!
