Centamil Unveils Hayagreeva HEx: A Breakthrough in AI Cooling Technology for Data Centres
In an exciting development for the world of artificial intelligence, Centamil has officially launched its first product in the realm of AI thermal management: the Hayagreeva HEx cooling system. This innovative copper-matrix cold plate has been engineered specifically for AI data centres, validating its capability to handle over 5,000W of continuous heat removal while achieving a thermal resistance of just 0.005 °C/W. This technological advancement is a response to the growing power dissipation needs of next-generation AI server silicon, which has surged from 300W three years ago to an alarming 1,200W today, with projections indicating it could exceed 4,400W within the next two years.
The challenges that modern data centres face in cooling have never been more pronounced. As AI accelerators evolve, the power dissipation associated with them has outpaced the cooling technologies currently available on the market. Praveen Kumar Gorakavi, the CEO and Founder of Centamil, explains, "AI silicon has been growing faster than the cooling solutions available. Therefore, we designed Hayagreeva HEx to accommodate the silicon being released today and beyond. While we've validated cooling at 5,000W, the architecture allows for even greater capacity."
The Hayagreeva HEx is built on an advanced copper-matrix wetted-surface architecture, providing a staggering 4,000+ square meters per cubic meter, which contributes to its impressive cooling performance. With production cooling systems struggling to keep pace with the increasing demands of modern computing, Hayagreeva HEx represents a crucial step forward in AI data centre infrastructure.
According to Sridhar Rao Julapally, the COO of Hayagreeva HEx, the company has made the transition from validation to production. "We are ready to ship production samples within four to six weeks following a signed letter of interest. Our aim is to deliver a solution that is not only efficient but also timely, addressing the immediate needs of data centre operators around the world."
Significantly, the Hayagreeva HEx is supported by a robust framework of 14 patent filings that encompass the thermal architecture, manufacturing processes, and system integration. This level of intellectual property protection emphasizes Centamil's commitment to innovation and leadership in the AI cooling technology sector.
The pilot evaluation program for Hayagreeva HEx is open to qualified data centre operators, server original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and integration partners. By implementing feedback from these key players, Centamil aims to refine and optimize the capabilities of this cutting-edge cooling solution, ensuring it meets the evolving demands of AI data processing.
Centamil's founder, Praveen Kumar Gorakavi, is not a newcomer to innovation. A recognized inventor, he has been named among Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 for 2019 and received the prestigious Presidential Award from APJ Abdul Kalam. With over 28 commercialized technologies to his name across various fields including chemical engineering and sustainable technologies, Gorakavi brings a wealth of experience to Centamil.
The Hayagreeva HEx marks a significant milestone not only for Centamil but also for the industry at large. As the technology landscape continues to evolve rapidly, the need for advanced thermal management solutions becomes increasingly vital. Centamil is poised to lead the charge into this new era with its innovative products that cater to the needs of the AI era.
